Cheryl, it was always nice to have your Mom come back to the house with you and Alan after his swim meets here in Prescott. She was always both fun and interesting to talk to.
As difficult as it is to lose a loved one, it is so comforting to hold to the promise of our Creator that we will meet them once again in our "permanent, eternal home" free from all pain and sorrow, never again to part.

With love~

Even though grandma was ready to go to heaven, I don't think any of the rest of us were prepared for her passing. She was full of life at 92, and was generous to share her prayers, kindnesses and life lessons with me from as far back as I can remember. As a child, I can remember staying with her a few times in Southern California. She would often tell me stories about her younger years and the things my Aunt used to get into trouble for; she always kept my attention with those stories.

Grandma truly loved her children and extended family, her dogs, her church, Disneyland, California and God. I'll miss our holiday dinners, when she'd inevitably reminisce and share silly details of things my brother and I said or did when we were children with our children. She had two favorites - one was when when I was very small, she asked me what a grandma was. I replied, "A Grandma is an old lady you love." Even back then, I recognized that I loved her.

When I moved to California last year, I'd call her on my way to work so we could catch up. She had a wry sense of humor and would say things that caught me by surprise and make me laugh. During those calls, she'd also tell me how special she thought her daughters were and how much she loved them.

She always took care of others even when some of us thought she should slow down a bit. She was also fiercely independent, doing her own gardening, cleaning, grocery shopping, playing with the grand kids.

The last thing she said to me was "I'll never stop praying for you. I love you." I'll remember those words for the rest of my life, and am so thankful that she's looking out for me. While I'll continue to have conversations with her in my prayers, I look forward to the day when we meet again.

I love you grandma!

~Becky
