I was so sorry to hear of the death of Wilma. As my Godmother she always held a special place in my life.

Miss Borchard was my third grade teacher and has always held a special place in my heart. I am devastated to learn that she lived so close to me all these years. I would have so loved to have been able to visit with her. Sometimes there is a teacher who teaches because she cares deeply for each child and wants to instill the love of learning in them, and this was certainly Wilma Borchard Burnett. Her enthusiam, excitement and love of teaching was a shining beacon reaching out to each of her students every single day. I always was excited to get up and to school because she was there. I thank her from the bottom of my heart for instilling the love of learning, reading, researching, and to never be satisfied with mediocre....she was an angel here on earth for all of us children. While I didn't go on to a career in teaching, I did become a paralegal, probably due to her instilling in me the love of the written word. Two of my daughters are now teachers. I can only hope they are as amazing as my awesome "Miss Borchard" R.I.P. beautiful lady...you are remembered with love and admiration by this student. Fondly, Diana Hanson Marriott-Ruiz
