D'Averil spend the last 5 months of her life being lovingly cared for by the Kaiser Palliative and Hospice Care Programs and a wonderful care provider Josie. D'Averil donated her body to OHSU for medical research and so her body is is currently in service to their program. When her remains are returned, around Summer 2015, we will carry out her wishes for her ashes to be scattered at the Lava Beds National Monument and for a marker to be placed next to the grave of her great aunt, Clarissa West in Mt. Laki Cemetery in Klamath Falls.
Anyone wishing to, may also attend some group memorials happening soon in Portland (contact me and I'll give you more info).

During the last years of D'Averil's life, she was almost entirely focused on her grandchildren, particularly Avondre, Alim, and Rayhan. I had a lot of contact with her as a result, and want people to know that she loved so many people very dearly. She frequently and quite wistfully remembered people, telling stories about many experiences. She was a very grateful person, very thankful for her wonderful life and friends. She had a way of letting her fun-loving spirit seek adventure and find humor and beauty everywhere. I miss her a lot and am also thankful for all those who loved her.
