I remember Jack delivering our mail, with a big cigar and a dog following around the route. I couldn't figure out how he could reach into the pouch and pull out the correct mail. After nearly 40 years in the Post Office I often wondered why I could n't pull out the correct mail myself. As a carrier I had the pleasure of working with him as well.

Jack was a pleasant and cheerful person from my childhood and someone that I will remember always with fondness not only as a mailman, but as a friend.
