I knew Olivia through her wonderful daughter, a special friend from my youth, Susie Watt. Olivia and John hosted me in their home as a teen visiting Susie and years later with my late husband, Steve. Olivia was an incredible, vibrant, intelligent, and extraordinary lady. Go with peace, Olivia.

Originally, I was interested in learning about herb growing from Olivia, but found her life and interests to be much more than gardening. She had been a dancer, a traveler, a teacher, peace activist, and most important, an adventurous dare devil, with great stories. She always loved to tell the stories behind her paintings, which crowded her studio--where they originated, what compelled her to paint certain styles or people.
Olivia suggested we paint together on Sauve Island and later made a calendar of her water colors of the area, which she sold at a nearby hardware store. She worked in all medias, painting large and small masterpieces of landscapes, still life and people. Her last advice: keep painting--even if it's just a little painting every day.
Olivia was a bundle of energy and a role model in her courage, determination and follow through. We met so late in her life but she was still full of vitality to the end. She was loved by so many and will never be forgotten.
