I met Bev Vojta in 1957 and soon heard stories of the family of 9 (two sets of twins and five singletons). I was in awe of Helen long before I met her. As the years went on and her children married and had their own babies I heard about the storied Sunday weekly open house that Helen held for all her progeny with the cinnamon rolls and BIG family dinners. No number of guests was too big for her to manage. She was the epitome of the good mother, and I was in awe of her strength, wisdom and generosity. I still am and I will never forget her. We were all so fortunate to know her.

From the first time I met Bev's family, I've been in awe of Helen's strength and grace. She was the glue that held her large and diverse family together over the years. Bev would talk about the every-Sunday open house she had for her progeny as they grew and brought their children home to eat dinner and visit with her and those still at home. As an only child I envied that family closeness, and marveled that Helen never seemed to need a day off to rest. She was a marvel of nature who made the world and those who knew her better for the experience.

Terry -

So sorry to hear of your mother's passing. She was one of my favorite teachers at St. Peter's. That was a lovely photo and obituary. It caught my eye immediately when I finally got around to reading the Sunday Oregonian.

My condolences to you and all your family. You were blessed with 100 years but it's still hard to adjust.
