Jane, what a wonderful family friend! My mom, Alla Bye and Jane were best friends for their lifetimes. They met at work at Industrial Hospital insurance. They also belonged to a Methodist church group and went on lots of outings. They were in their 20's then in the 1940's. Some of the pictures here are of that time, such as both of them in a canoe and tennis. They took trips together and went to Canada, the Oregon Coast and Mexico. Both made scrapbooks of their trips. Jane was the Maid of Honor at my parent's, Maury and Alla Bye's wedding in 1951.
Another pic is at my Grandma Domini's house where Jane and us enjoyed many Christmas Eve's. My brother and I called her our Aunt Jane. And she was my brother's Godmother. When I was seventeen, Jane helped put in a good word for me at her work, so that I got my first job at First Farwest. It was a summer job before I went away to college. It helped me get other insurance jobs in the summers between my semesters at PLU. We later always remembered each other with Christmas cards.
I enjoyed everyone's stories today at the memorial service, of how they knew Jane. Truly a beautiful person inside and out.

We met Jane while we were students at Multnomah Bible College (now Multnomah University). I, (Jamie) had the privilege of renting a room from her for a time while I was there. Jane's love for the Lord, love for people and her upbeat personality were always an inspiration. We have enjoyed her lovely Christmas cards keeping us in touch through the years. What a wonderful legacy she has left in the lives of so many people. What joys she must be experiencing with her Lord in heaven today! But we extend our sympathy for the earthly loss for family and friends.

I first knew Jane in 1970 when I rented a room in her basement. I visited Jane many times though the years with a friend and then with family. She was always thoughtful, kind, and hospitable. My husband and children always found her to be just as loving and kind to them as she was to me. We look forward to spending eternity with her. Thank you Garret family for being her family on earth. Jane was our next door neighbor for many years. She was a very special lady. I injured my back in 2008 and Jane took me to every Dr's appointment and even took notes to share with my Husband as he was working during the day and couldn't be there. She was an absolute delight and I enjoyed spending time just chatting with her. She asked me to attend the anual
Christmas brunch and pagent with her at her church several years too! After she moved to Cherrywood, my Husband and I took her to her favorite restaurant (Canton Grill) for dinner just to get caught up and hear about her busy schedule! Thank you Jane for being such a special person to Corbin and I!

Certainly I was saddened to get the news of Jane's passing. I first met Helen Jane at Family Camp at Black Lake Bible Camp when I worked there as a teen. Jane came every year and was a friend of my Aunt's who also attended. When I contemplated a move to Portland after graduating from high school Jane encouraged me to apply in her department at FFWI. She was on vacation at the time but hired me in the Records Department (1980-1984). Jane would sometimes pick me up on her way to work if I was waiting at the bus stop along her path to work. I attended the same church with her along with my Aunt so spent much time with her outside of work as well. I, too, remember her love of children from her time of working with them at camp. I spent time in her home where you did indeed find she loved her cats. Jane lived a life evident of her love for our Saviour, giving and helping wherever she could. I do have very fond memories of her and will miss our yearly greeting at Christmas time, sending along a picture of our family over the years which I know she thoroughly enjoyed getting especially after my aunt's passing and losing that connection. She was indeed mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Jane, thank you for your gracious example of a life lived for Christ.

Helen Jane was a long time supporter of mine when I was serving on the mission field. She was a faithful letter writer and a great encourager. How I wish I could be there for the celebration of her life but I will be out of town. I would share with everyone about her generous upbeat personality. Though we haven't seen each other in the later years she holds a special place in my memories. She was a true servant and I know is now enjoying being with her Savior. Beverly Gorbett (Canby,Oregon )

34 years ago I met Jane when I was a student at Multnomah. Through the years, she has become a very dear and loyal friend, always displaying her love for Jesus Christ by her love for the people in her life. An amazing, multi-talented lady who always encouraged me by her caring, fun-loving spirit and her example of peace and contentment, no matter what life brought her way. One of the shining lights of Earth has been moved to Heaven. My wife and I will greatly miss her.

Jane will be greatly missed at Central Bible Church. She always had a smile on her face, even when we knew she was in pain. My husband and I were in the same Growth Group many years ago at her house and came to dearly love her. She really did love cats and other animals. We had already made plans to be in CA on the 22 of May and are very sorry to miss her memorial service. We loved her very much. Larry and Sandra Cochran

Jane was a neighbor of mine in Portland for 11 years. She was a delight to talk to and share love for our cats. She was very fond of our precious cat, The Duchess. Jane would come stay a few hours a day when we traveled to give our cat lap time and love when we were gone. The Duchess would purr like crazy on Jane's lap!!! She was missed when we moved. We will miss Jane's Christmas cards and neighborhood catchup.
