Larry Ness Family

I just found something out from my son Steve Swanson that is 53 years old and I wanted to pass it on to you.

When Steve was a young boy, Larry helped me when Steve was riding down Otty Hill Rd on his bicycle and fell off the bike which was a real blessing to me and to Steve - perhaps from that encounter came the testimony that I just heard about a week ago from Steve.

He told me that Larry and he had lots of times together and Larry was always encouraging him to hang in there in the Little league games that he was playing.

There was a kid who was pitching in some of the games and Steve was telling him how he was scared of him and he pitched real fast, etc. Larry told him not to be afraid of him and he came to one of the games that Steve was playing in and saw the kid pitching for his team and he told Steve:

'Don't' be afraid of him - He's duck soup! " This made a big impression on Steve and he told me that he was one that helped him a lot through his encouragement and has never forgot their talks together.

I was thrilled to hear this and thought it would be a blessing to all of you also.

Thank you Larry for raising up such a wonderful son who I dearly call my husband. He has so many wonderful actributes that you passed down in him. I know that because you were devoted to your family I now have a husband that is devoted too. You modeled that for Kenny and I will be forever thankful. We will miss your contagious laughter and beautiful smile. I know you will still be looking out for your family from Heaven and waiting anxiously for us all to join you one day in the presence of our Lord Jesus.
You are loved!

Larry was the nicest, happiest guy with the biggest smile ever. He was awesome to talk with, especially about hunting. He recently helped us with some advice on our new church roof and saved us a lot of trouble. I knew I had to talk to Larry and he didn't let me down.
I am still telling people of how blown away I was in High School when I looked up and saw his name on a plaque for a track record he held in 1965 or 1966. I'll bet his name is still up in the new Clackamas High School.
Another time I was channel surfing and there was Larry on TV as the county building inspector. He was everywhere and loved by everyone.
Larry what an incredible life and family you had. You will be sorely missed. Please say hi to your dad for me.

I promise to you while she grows into a women that I will not let your memory fade, I will make sure to remind her of the memories you to made.
I promise to tell her of the beautiful roses you love to grow and how you would always send a bouquet home with her to show.
I promise to tell her of the garden you use to grow with strawberries so sweet because you knew it was her favorite treat.
I promise that when she's sad you are gone because that she will hate, that her papa will one day meet her at heavens gate.

Daddy
Going through all the family pictures there are many that I don't remember some with family and some with friends. It is fun to see many of pictures of you as a young STUD that I have never seen before and I know it's you because of your perfect smile. I followed your path becoming a father young and very proud always providing for my family as you did. I don't ever remember a time you could not make time for us, never missing an opportunity to pick us up for the weekend or a vacation. Thank you for many memory's of camping at the beach, hunting, and don't forget the trip to Mt hood to chop firewood. I will miss you untell we have a great family reunion in heaven.
I LOVE YOU DADDY

Larry worked harder at having fun than most do at their job. One example: We joined Larry & Irene family at the beach - Day started digging razor clams, then fishing for Perch, then crabbing, then rake rocky island beach for steamers etc., then, checking on crab pots. By the end of day I was exhausted; Larry and Irene cooked a great seafood dinner at camp.

Gonna miss you Larry.
Save some Elk for everybody up there. Get the camp fire ready. We'll look for the light you leave for us. No worries. Keep Grandma Ballmes company.
