We're writing this on behalf of the Gerhard (Gay) and Sigrid Stavney family. Gay and Ray were close colleagues at Meier and Frank (the downtown Portland store) and then as partners in the real estate ventures of the Argay Company. Ray was like a member of the family, and an especially good friend to Gay as they worked together in real estate development (Argay Terrace in E. Portland to begin with), mid-career ventures for both of them. Ray had such a winning demeanor and a generous spirit. The Stavney offspring (Sigrid, Gerry and Liz) send condolences to the Brasfield family, remembering Ray with such fondness. We would appreciate knowing a favorite charity or interest where a memorial remembrance could be made from our family in Ray's honor.

I have so many wonderful memories of your dad. He was a blessing to me. I especially remember Yeo Ho times. God rest his soul and bless you all

Indeed we have great memories of Yeo Ho at the beach. My mom, Dorothy Liberty, was always so protective of me and my siblings (Robert and Kathleen) but when Ray was on duty, we were free to join in organized outdoor games in the yard and on the beach. I remember Ray saying " It's okay Dorothy. I will take care of the kids while you are golfing."
There were afternoons of touch football and softball with the 6 kids; sometimes Karen and Dougy were there too.
Ray also used to immediately wash the dishes after breakfast if we had eggs. " I just hate eggy dishes" he said. He served up the first stir fry meal I ever had. Very fond memories.

My brother and I will toast him and the Brasfield family in Edmonds WA. this weekend.

We are very sorry to hear that Uncle Ray has passed away. May he rest in peace.

Ray and Chas and there boys were wonderful friends to our family. We have fond memories of my father and mother and Chas going off for an afternoon together while Ray cooked a nice lunch for all of the kids. He was a warm, kind and wonderful man. We will miss him as much as we have missed Chas.

I am sorry that I cannot attend the memorial service, I have a prior commitment in Edmonds with my sister and her husband this weekend. (My other sister lives in New Zealand now.)

Warm regards and condolences to Randy, David, Tim and your families.
