To Dan and Gretchen Amato,

I just wanted to extend my condolences to you for your loss. I did not know Terry for very long, but had the fortunate opportunity to get to know Terry through my place of employment. Tery had been coming in on business and soon after I was able to make small talk with him on occasion. Just like everyone's testimony, he was a very pleasing and engagging person. Always had a smile and made you feel relaxed yet important at the same time. I was asked to work with Terry on a short film take for television advertising. He was always graciuos and made it easy, He really did enjoy his work and was good at directing the takes. He will be missed, but not forgotten. He is the person we all try to be. Kind, thoughtful, compassionate with purpose in mind. He is not gone, but his spirit has passed on to a place I like to call home. A place we will all move to someday. To Terry! A human being that cared, was a freind to all whom he met, and made this Earthly place a little better.

Dear Barbara and Amato family - You have been in my thoughts and prayers for Terry's passing. For more than 20 years, I was very blessed to have known Terry through several circles of involvement, most importantly our faith sharing times. Terry was consistently one of the most positive, engaging, creative, generous and enjoyable friends who I had a pleasure to know. I will miss him greatly, but I will treasure my memories of him through our Promise Keeper involvement and community event experiences. His legacy will live on. God bless you.

There is a simple way to describe Terry he was just one of those types of people you wanted to stand as close as possible to and hope some of his goodness rubbed off on you. I have known Terry for years as both a colleague and a someone I'm proud to call a friend.

From all of us at the Baxter Auto Parts family, thank you for your years of friendship, advice and support.

Terry was a special man. His integrity was beyond reproach. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He now has the best seats available for Duck football games!

Dear Barbara,
Though we met as neighbors, worked the Portland Bridal Show, worshiped together but moved away Terry was always in our thoughts and prayers. Monthly, I would put Terry in our book of prayer intentions.

I feel so bad that we could not make it back for the funeral but we already had a commitment we could not get out of.

I will miss his wonderful smile and jovial laugh.

All our love,

It is still unbelievable that we have said our earthly farewell to Terry Amato. He was always so upbeat that I think we all believed that he would beat the disease that he had fought for so long. How many of us spoke or emailed with him just 24 hours before his passing and came away with the happiness that Terry instilled in us every time we were around him?
Terry was a founding member of the Amici d'Italia and a great supporter of the Italian community. But more than that, he was a kind, compassionate, generous and loving man who always encouraged everyone around him. He had an enduring faith in God and that faith imbued everything he did. In simple terms, the world was a better place for his presence and we are all richer for having known him.
I am so blessed to have known him.

“I have fought a good fight I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
II Timothy 4:7

Terry will be dearly missed by so many as he touched us all with his gentle and kind spirit. The funeral service for him was beautiful and with more than 500 in attendance one can see the impact he had on our lives. I had the pleasure of working with and knowing Terry for 7 years during my time at Special Olympics Oregon. Terry and I first met in 2005 and worked closely together on the Bite of Oregon. He always made me feel like I was the most important person in the world. To Barbara and Terry's family, I'm so sorry for your loss.

My parents lived across the street (NE 41st) when Sam and Lena built the house on Glisan St, those long years ago. Because of age, I knew Brother Roger better; but in adult life Terry was a favorite customer in my advertising days. A great client: honest, trusting, sense of humor, loyal and more. Easiest to just say a Great Guy. You'll be missed by many. Love to you and condolences to your family.

To Barbara & family,
Terry sounded like a very accomplished & special person. I am so very sorry for your loss. I recently lost my husband to cancer & I know the challenging time this is for all of you. Barbara was such a special person to work with at PHS & even though I never got to meet Terry, his obituary shows what an amazing person he was. Take care through this very difficult time. Thoughts & prayers are sent your way.
Love, Victoria Wahlman
