I remember Bill back to the Boy Scouts. He was a born leader he served as Sr. Patrol leader while I was a lowly Tenderfoot. Always admired him and am sorry I never told him.

As an alum of OCHS, I had the privilege of being a student of Mr Freeman (even after all these decades, he's still 'Mr" Freeman.)
He was a dedicated professional, full of enthusiasm for life, passion for his subject and compassion for his students. He exude such a positive and accepting attitude that created a safe environment for inquiry and exploration. It was impressive to read of his many and varied accomplishments after he left OCHS; it appears that he continued to pursue a life full of adventure, integrity, curiosity and service.....always learning and always teaching....truly engaged. I wish I had known that he lived so close to me; I would have loved to let him know the power of his influence. He made a difference. Sincere condolences to his family.

My Dad,Carl Nissen, had a lot of great friends. Bill was the best of the best. He always made an effort to be my friend too. He was a great man and I miss him.

I remember Bill as the most positive, friendly person you would ever want to meet. He was a wonderful friend and is already missed.

A classmate at OCHS class of '62 led me to this obituary for an unforgettable teacher. I will always remember his classes as full of laughter, strong classmate opinions, and fleeting moments. I am very thankful that he provided such a wonderful environment of learning!
