I wrote this about Dad September 23, two days after his passing:

Not one of my images or memories
has been broken.
Instead, each one has sought out
a more appropriately worthy frame.

We've had this guy.
He simply showed up--
first, to Mom,
with piercing perfection,
supplication through silence,
lifetimes through looks.
Then, to us,
with factual confidence,
with tactile perfection,
with quiet brush strokes of
who we were all to become.

Yes, we got to have this guy.
He simply showed up--
first, with gazes across a dance floor,
then with footballs across our front yard.

He showed up, in every way--
by way of an unspoken invitation--
crafted and delivered by
our Perfect Mother Father God, who
had already chosen the plan:
we were all to flock together as a family,
creating, re-creating each other,
ourselves.

EJ, Mr Dad, "Monsieur Dijon"
cut the mustard,
passed the tests,
proved intent through action--
and in so doing--
we all did, together, always.

We've had this guy.
He simply showed up--
created worlds of love,
shot men into space,
caught them when they fell,
and then,
he ascended into the stars--

all while watching over us,
with that smile.

We are continually moved by such powerfully loving messages, from so many of you all. Mom and I have been talking about how beyond blessed we have been by our "everyday angels."
With deepest gratitude,
Lynn, of the Allen family.
