Mary Ann, although we have never met, I feel as though we have. I have heard many stories of my brother Lee's visits to to your home to visit Joe and how gracious you are to him. I am so sorry for your and your daughter Mary's lose.
I too loved Joe......and have so many wonderful memories of the years he was a father to us. Today's kid would say he rocked, he was the fun Dad, definetly full of life. Although, I do remember being woken up early some Saturday mornings to loud marching music, so we would do our chores. I also remember learning to water ski, camping, shooting bows and arrows, exploring mines, suba diving and so much more. He left a big impression on me. I am so very glad he was apart of my life and wish I had told him so.
Mary Ann, I can only imagine the many adventures you and Mary had with him and how much you'll miss him!
There will never be another you. Unforgettable, that's what you are. I will carry you in my heart always.

Thinking of you and your Family at this time Mary Ann..
My thoughts and prayers are with you MaryAnn, and to your family.
Joe was such a special person. We all loved hearing stories about him and he had such a wonderful relationship with his wife Mary Ann and his daughter Michele and his daughter and son-in-law Mary and Drew. His grandchildren Miles and Greta lived close enough to be able to spend a lot of time with him and I know they will always cherish those memories; they made him so happy.
I know he will be much missed by his family and Bling.
Joe was a wonderful man and friend..he loved to read, very smart and loved to talk about his war days! Joe you will be missed! Judy
What a life Joe led...From being a hero to a POW to a husband, father and grandfather. Always the hero, Joe did what most of us fell to do, he put a lot of Joe into his life. May it be a testament to his strength, his love for you Mary Ann, his commitment to his children. Joe set the bar high in life and gave you and yours memories to cherish for a life time. God Bless Joe and his family. Mary Ann, Michele and Mary. You have my deepest sympathies. May God cradle you in his arm in the coming months. Let the memories bring you comfort and Mary Ann, know that I'm only a phone call away.
I didn't know Joe, but heard wonderful stories about him from his wife Mary Ann. I know he will be very much missed.
Gramps was a one of a kind. Words do not describe the hole his passing has created. He is now in his own reflection of heaven, where the coffee is fresh ground, he can wake and go paddle on his beloved river, hit a flea market in the afternoon and spend the evening discussing crazy complex theories with all of his friends and family who passed so long ago. And maybe, just maybe... sneak in a story every once in a while to his Grandson. I'll be listening for you every time I hear the wind ripple across the water.
Joe was indeed a hero. Even though we didn't know him we do know that he was a true American who loved his country. We know you and your family, including Bling, will miss him terribly. Our prayers are with you.
