Finally able to get in. GT became one of my best friends after he hired me at Sanford Herald in 1971.Later i was able to return favor and he became my top sports correspondent at Seminole sentinel. that cemented our friendship.Adding to it was the years he took my daughter Kim on shopping trips at Christmas for like five years. They dont make them like this guy any longer RIP GT YOU WILL(ARE) BE MISSED.

To my friend Gary,

We first met when I was appointed to the Sanford Housing Authority in 2004. We became fast friends out of mutual respect for one another. Those families that resided in the housing communities never realized that that effort to correct the terrible conditions they resided in were directly due to the size of your heart, not the ink you bought by the barrel. You my friend are a special person. Hope and I will miss the many occasions when we had our "peanut" meetings at the Roadhouse steak restaurant in Sanford. When I ran for Congress you offered me your valuable insight and guidance as a friend. Our community of Sanford will miss you. Gary, we are all better for having shared time with you over the years. You will sit at the right hand of God with an endless supply of ink by the barrel. Hope and I send our love to your family. We will always think of you. We will always miss you. You were and will always be Sanfords pride, Mr. Baseball, and our friend.

I had the opportunity of working with Mr. Taylor about 12 years ago when he coached my sons T-ball team. He was a great coach to the kids. He will be missed. My sincere prayers to his family.

Thanks Gary for the memories. Loved the stories you wrote about me in Sanford when I played baseball. To this day I still collect baseball cards because of you. You will be missed.

I worked some with Gary in the 70's when I also was a reporter. Good guy as all know. I also shared Baseball with him and in fact Gary was the guy who told me that this "internet" thing could be used to get baseball stats. Thanks Gary -- and thanks for the help back in the day. Old School reporters (not 'journalists) like you deserve a front row in heaven. Bless you and your family.

I always go into Gary Taylor's "Mr. Lucky's Lottery Blog" on OrlandoSentinel.com for lottery news and to check lottery updates. Now I'm very sad that I will miss him, and now let's hope the "Sentinel" will find another another Florida State Lottery aficionado who will be the next "Mr. Lucky" as the new lottery blogger.
RIP, Gary. :-(

Gary and I shared the Sentinel Sanford bureau for 29 years as fellow employees. Our friendship never wavered and he was like a brother to me, always sharing and caring. I will miss him so much. His legacy lives on in his son Charlie, whom the sun and moon rose and set in. Charlie will continue to make his father proud as he looks down upon him from heaven. For those wishing to make a donation in Gary's memory, the Taylor family has suggested contributions can be made to S.P.O.R.T.S., c/o John Polk, P.O. Box 470085, Lake Monroe, FL 32747-0085. John suggests that "In memory of Gary Taylor" be written in the memo line of checks sent in. As anyone who knew Gar knows, he loved baseball, especially the kid's little league. God bless and farewell to the best writer and friend anyone could have.
