I am really sad that I could not thank him for saving my life. He did my heart surgery in 1972 or 73 when I was 3. My condolences goes out to his family.

My Name is Keith Russell, I am from Orlando, Fl. i had Dr. Bloodwell when i was just 8 years old in 1970. i have just looked up and saw he had passed away last year. I am now sad to hear the news and i send my warmest thoughts to the family to the man who had saved my life. i am now 52 and i have been in wonderful health and i have not had any problems since he did the repair of my "ticker". as a young boy i was traumatized by being in hospitals most of my early life. but i am greatful to him for saving my life as i went on to a "normal" life. since having many visits in later life to have checkups, most of whom have heard of him say his work that was done so many decades agos still sound like a swiss watch. i just want to say "thank you Dr. Robert Bloodwell, and may you rest with thoughts of knowing you saved so many lives in your career". Sincerely, Keith Russell, Orlando, Fl.

I remember Bob when we were Surgical Interns at Johns Hopkins in 1957-58 under the leadership of the great Dr. Alfred Blalock. Bob was super smart, motivated and physically skilled. It was obvious he was going to do great things. I was saddened to learn of his passing in the magazine, Hopkins Medicine, and consider myself fortunate to have been his friend and colleague. I have had the gift of a successful career as a Neurosurgeon.

It is with Great Sadness that I have just found out of the Passing of Dr.Bloodwell. such a Great Pioneer in Heart Surgery is a Great Loss to the Medical World. Knowing of His Great Skills in Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery should be a Monument to Forever Remain. I know because without His Surgical Skills, I maybe, would not be alive today, or would have suffered unending Health Issues, but Because of His Superior Skills, I have been able to Live a Very Healthy Life.

I did email Dr. Bloodwell a couple of Years ago thanking Him for What Doctors today, say was a Mortal Surgical Procedure. I owe a Lifetime of Good Health to this Great Doctor.

I remember my First Consultation with the Great Doctor and the Radiant Personality never Expected from a Surgeon. Every Nurse in the Hospital Told Me, He was the Best, and boy were they ever right. He was very comforting, and very confident in His Skills.
Thank You Very Much Dr. Bloodwell, I will Never Forget You.
