Oscar Peterson was the big BUZZ in the late sixties when I first heard him. Big Buzz...I mean big. He was such a beautiful person, I wanted to hear more - so went to the Library and got every record I could to listen to how he did what he did. Just listening was an education. There were lots of DVDs showing him in concert and in Canada. I played them again and again - it was truly educational and marvelous to even watch!
Please know that his vibe stretches around the globe and his influence will be felt for many years to come.

For Oscar...

You really rocked!

WEEP NOT FOR ME

Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.

Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.

Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.

Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

What a wonderfull gifted musician Oscar Peterson was and above all he will always always be in our hearts. I first heard Oscar Play in l955 when I bought a Verve Record that had him playing with Flip Phillips Gene Krupa Buddy Rich and all the greats. Man I knew right then and there that he was my boy my piano idol. He was incredible way back then and still today you can listen to anything by Oscar Peterson and still get the chills. I know he is in heaven now having a super tremendous jazz jam session with all of our boys. Oscar Peterson has never left us he is always with us. His piano expertise will be the measuring gauge for all piano professionals to emulate and try to come close. God Bless You Oscar Peterson we will forever love you and admire you.

Sixty years ago I had a steady baby-sitting job. Oscar walked in and out they went. I saw him quite often over the years. Now at 71 years old I have a lot of fond memories. He was always glad to sit, and talk about the old days. 'Til we meet again.
