Charles HALL Obituary

Published by Ottawa Citizen on Apr. 2, 2016.
HALL, Charles Russell ("Bud")
Passed away at the age of 86 in Ottawa on Saturday, March 19, 2016. Predeceased by wife Meriam in 2002. Survived by sister Rita Young of Fort Worth, Texas; children Kim (Doug Taylor) of Wellington, Ontario, Geoff (Kathy Reinert), Kelly (Lorne Morris), Suzanne (Kevin Brazeau), all of Ottawa; grandchildren Mike, Alex, Allie, Abbey, Matt (Ashley), Sam, Jackson; great-grandchildren Liam and Ethan. Bud served in the Canadian Forces for over 30 years, primarily as a combat engineer and then a construction engineer after he was commissioned as an officer. He retired as a Major. Skiing and sailing were passions for Bud; he was active in the Forces Ottawa Ski Club, became a ski instructor at Calabogie Peaks, then Ski School Director for 6 years. He shared his love of the sport with many. For a time he was Commodore of the CFB Petawawa Yacht club and joined the Lac Deschenes Sailing Club. Also, Bud and Meriam travelled in their RV each spring and fall. Bud loved his last years at Amica at Westboro Park, enjoying cycling, pole walking, and exercising daily until a few months ago. Special thanks to Dr. Vernooy, family physician, Dr. Goss of The Ottawa Hospital, Dr. Spacek and Dr. Bright of the Palliative Care Medical Associates. A memorial service will be held on April 7, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Tubman Funeral Home Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the charity of your choice.

The next year with all of the "firsts" will be the hardest, but know that you are part of our family and that we love you dearly. I know my memories of my Dad bring me comfort and frequently make me smile. You now have another guardian angel watching over you. Love Brian and Margo

Kim, Geoff, Kelly & Suzanne. Our families share so many wonderful memories. When I go to ski at Calabogie Peaks I think of Mr. Hall saying to everyone "I came here to ski". You are all in my thoughts.

Dear Geoff and Kathy. Both Harvey and I send our condolences to you and your families. We never met your Dad but you always spoke of him with such love and compassion. He was a blessed man to live such a full and active life and having the love and care of his family always around him. Although gone from this earth he will always remain with you in your heart, your thoughts and your wonderful memories. Sincerely Harvey & Heather
