I have been looking for Eugene on the Market and was sad to hear the news I pray that you are at peace now in the name of Jesus. I have shared my story with Eugene (below link) if you wish to read. Family member please feel free to reach out to me.

I pray to our Lord that you are finally living free, out of the bondage of your chair. Thank you Lord for giving me the blessings to meet Eugenie, to see your smile despite all the pain and longing to see your kids, to hear your joke and teasing despite your physical pain, i loved bringing you berries, helping you with your meds, listening to your stories, the heartbreaking ones and the encouraging ones. Your story hit me hard, i always wished i could do more, but i am glad you are in eternal peace, i am so happy you got to be with your family in your last days. Praying you left with a sense of knowing you were loved. RIP my friend

We are saddened to hear of Eugenie's passing. When we would go to the market, Eugenie would see me coming with my contribution. He would always say thank you. There was just something special about this gentle man...

Persistent and determined with a great disposition that makes for friendship Eugine was friendly with a beaming smile and a good mind, He enjoyed talking with people and tried his best to look at the positive side, but also could see what was wrong and figure out new ways to deal with it. He respected tradition, but wasn't held down by it, and could rise above and really grow through life. I would sometimes find him planning and organizing, as he tried to put all of the pieces of one of his projects together to make it whole and solid.
His breezy manner endeared a wide circle of friends for he seemed to stimulate the best in people, and they were impressed with his kind and friendly disposition. Good bye Eugine....

We always enjoyed our hellos and bits of conversations with Eugenie - he will be missed in the market!

My husband always stopped to chat and contribute. When my husband went into LTC , I stopped and Eugene always asked for him Eugene was a kind soul. May he rest in peace

Godspeed Eugenie - will miss seeing your smiling face in the Byward Market. You went through so much over the past 20 years - may you now be free of all that held you back & kept you in that chair.
