Deirdre SCOTT Obituary
Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She leaves behind her loving husband of 53 years, Pat Scott. She will be greatly missed by her daughters Sheila (Aralt Mac Giolla Chainnigh), Maureen (Danny Byrne), Siobhán (Maciej Brodowski), and Róisín (Richard Philippe). She has been a loving Grandma Deedee to Nora, Amy, Paula, Layla, Eddy, Myra, Becky, Geneviève, Renée, and Tristan. Mom left Ireland with two girlfriends in 1957, for an adventure that lasted a lifetime. Both Mom and Dad were very proud of their Irish heritage. Mom supported Dad in the creation of the Irish Society of Ottawa, Irish theatre and the Chair of Celtic Studies at the University of Ottawa. She initiated Irish dancing and Irish language classes here in Ottawa. Such was her passion for her culture that her children and grandchildren are all active in Ottawa's vibrant Irish community. The family would like to express its heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Ottawa General for the very gentle and tender way they ensured that mom's last days were as comfortable as possible. The family also wants to thank the staff at Billings Lodge for the exceptional care it has provided to mom over the last 11 months. Friends may pay respects at the

Dear Pat and Family,
Our deepest sympathy to you all on your loss of Deirdre, a wonderful woman. Deirdre and my mother, Cecily Murphy were great friends in their early years in Ottawa. I remember many long chats on the phone between them, as well as family visits with Pat and Deirdre and Ed and Cecily. I remember baby sitting the girls, as does my sister Cecilia. Then our paths crossed with both Pat and Deirdre over the years at Ottawa University and at several Irish events at St. Brigid's Parish. Deirdre always greeted us warmly with her welcoming smile.
I am sorry that we are out of town and not able to attend the wake or funersl. We send you all our sincere condolences. May Deirdre rest in Peace.

Dear Pat,
Anne and I are deeply saddened to hear of Deirdre's passing. We valued her friendship during our two postings in Ottawa, most recently as Ambassador between 2006 - 2010. We will be forever grateful to Deirdre for teaching our youngest son Irish in 1989 which enabled him to re -enter the secondary school system in Ireland without a problem. She was a great Irishwoman and a great Canadian. She was a wonderful Ambassador for us, she made us all proud to be Irish.

Dear Scott Family. I don't know if you will remember me but when you lived in the (very) little house on Bower I used to walk Sheila and then Maureen to school at de Mazenod in the 60s.
