Today marks one year from the day that I received the call. Aunty Mary was a very giving person. She had many friends and at the funeral I met people who worked with her, exercised with her and were delivered into this world with the help of Nurse Mary Walli. I think of her often as we would go shopping at various places while she visited. She would sing and dance in the car to the radio.
I miss you, your smile and your laugh!

Dear Mary I am so sad to hear this. You've always been a ray of sunshine when you enter a room. We worked for so many years together in labor delivery. Your sense of humor was very entertaining . Your class and beauty always prevailed. I truly appreciate yr help two years ago when my Zdsd had his laryngectomy!! Your kindness support and reassurance that he was stable that day will always be remembered by my family.. I'm sure at peace , ccomfort and love to your family.

I learnt about Mary only yesterday from my sister who lives in Ottawa, who thought the name Mary Walli rang the bell then called me. Mary was my classmate and good friend in Dar in our high school days. The last time I met her was at a hotel near Heathrow airport where her sister Jocelyn and her 6 month old baby Lorna rested before departing for Dar-es-salaam, in 1967. Mary and I corresponded then lost touch. What I remember about Mary is her infectious laugh that made all my troubles disappear. We both became nurses. I didn't even know Mary lived in Ottawa, and I am saddened to learn she has passed away. She chose a great career which matched her compassionate nature and that she reached further in her Nursing profession showed her drive to learn more. To Mary's Family, I send my condolences and pray for eternal peace for Mary. Fatma Jaffer

It was a wonderful service this week outlining Mary's compassion, wit, and professionalism. She trained me well when I started in the caseroom so many yrs ago, and we had many good times following (lunches, spa retreats)..she was a generous and fun-loving character to my children and husband also (loved his Italian singing)...she loved her family and friends and will be missed my many.

I worked with Mary at The Ottawa General Hospital for over 20 years. She was a kind hearted person, loved the finer things in life and could often make me laugh. I know "dear" she would say. She fondly called me "Rhoda " and would surprise me when she would
ask about my boys, by name. So sorry to hear of her passing.
Rest peacefully in the arms of The Lord dear Mary.
