My most heartfelt thanks to all of you who have written here with your loving memories of Richard. I am collecting drawings, paintings and poems of his to go into a book that I hope will be published within the next year or two...

Please accept my condolences. I knew Richard when we were teenagers in Ottawa and always enjoyed his keen wit and humour. We were out of touch for many years but I always maintained a fondness for him. Very sorry for your loss.

I heard of Richard's passing a few years ago. I was shocked. I am still shocked. I was a friend of Richard's when we were teenagers in Ottawa and also later in Montreal . Please accept my belated condolences

I was shocked to discover that Richard has passed away. He was someone who left a lasting impression on me. I admired his intellect, his wry sense of humor and sincerity. I appreciated his friendship. I remember taking countless opportunities to stand outside of Lisgar High School with him because of how easy he was to be with, without pretense. So sad to hear the news of his passing. My condolences.

How grateful I am to have just found these heartfelt messages here. Richard was such an amazing child, so shy and so fascinated by the world and always so busy drawing and writing that in our various ways we were all awestruck by him. And as an adolescent he loved his friends very dearly. Many thanks to all of you whose messages appear here.

Rest in Peace, Richard.

Dear Elisabeth: Please accept my sincerest condolences on the loss of your son, something that no parent is ever prepared for. My heart and thoughts go out to you and your family. Blaine

Rest in peace Richard

Richard was an early inspiration to me. I admired his artistry and loved his dark sense of humour. When I heard the news I dug out the first original work of art I ever collected: a slab of black and grey acrylic canvas he painted when he and M. Garland shared a studio, simply titled "guy puking". For years I had it hanging, only recently putting it away as my wall space shrunk. It seems somewhat macabre but also appropriate to hang it again.

Sincere condolences to Beth and Stig.
