Ron was my major outside collaborator when at ICI Runcorn and lived 200yards away when he moved to Scotland
He had a good sense of humour, a total dedication to the job and the ability to lead high level scientific discussions
A sad loss at only 65
Condolenxes to Marjory and Andreww

I worked with Ron during my secondment at ICI Explosives Lab Ardeer Scotland and interacted with him many times after I moved to ICI Australia. Ron was a gifted scientist and became a good friend. I am very sad at his passing. My thoughts are with Marjory and Andrew at this difficult time.

I was recruited by Ron Stewart at Ardeer in 1989. He was an excellent manager - best I've ever had. A great loss

I worked with Ron since 1999 in Brownsburg and on and off even after his first stroke. I have always been impressed with his memory and his knowledge of all details of patents in the Initiation System areas. His strong will to continue to work and perform has been most touching and set a good example to us all. My deepest sympathy to Marjory and the family.

I had the pleasure of working for Ron in ICI at Ardeer Scotland. He was the consummate professional scientist and a wonderful manager with a very relaxed style. His knowledge and enthusiasm for science seemed unbounded, aided by an enviable photographic memory. Such endeavour was clearly evident in his struggles with his health in later years. We will miss him personally and professionally and wish to convey my sincerest sympathy to Marjory and Andrew.
