Royal WHELAN Obituary
Peacefully on April 4, 2017 at The Ottawa Hospital, General Campus at the age of 97 years. Beloved husband for 70 years to Stella (nee Karpinka). Loving father of Patricia (Patsy) Burnell. Cherished grandfather of Kelly Burnell-Boykin. Proud great-grandfather of Breanna Burnell. Roy was predeceased by his son-in-law Robert Burnell, his grandson-in- law Robert Boykin, and by his siblings Lou, Leo, John, Robert, and Lillian. Retired civil servant with External Affairs Department, with assigned postings to Rome, Italy, Beirut, Lebanon, and London, England. Decorated World War II Veteran with military medal presented by King George VI at Buckingham Palace. Roy was as avid golfer, playing until his early 90s, and spent many winters in Florida where his daughter and her family lives. Friends may pay respects at
