James Warren Obituary

James R. Warren, 69, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014 at his home. He was born Oct. 16, 1944, in Bay City, to the late Alomond and June (Eddy) Warren. James married Jennifer Swenson on Feb. 14, 1981.

James worked for the Dow Chemical Co. and Dow Corning Corp. as an engineer, retiring in 2000 from Dow Corning. He also owned and operated the Warren Tree Farm during this time.

James attended Memorial Presbyterian Church. James and Jennifer raced cars in the Pro Rally Circuit in the 1980s. James raised and ran sled dogs and even raced in the Iditarod Sled Dog Race in Alaska in 2004 and 2006. He volunteered with Garfield Township Fire Department in Bay County, a service he considered as " just being a good neighbor."

James is survived by his wife, Jennifer; children, Jennifer Warren of Grand Rapids, Christopher (Lauren Bendes) Warren of Ypsilanti, and Whitney (Charles) Thomas of Midland. He is also survived by his brothers, John (Mary) Warren and Gary (Connie) Warren; and sisters, Donna (Ted) Coyer and Lynn (Rick) Wagner.

A memorial service will be held at Memorial Presbyterian Church on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Wally Mayton III officiating. Friends can visit with the family from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Garfield Township Fire Department of Bay County. On line condolences can be given at smithminer.com

Jim and his family are in our prayers. My wife and myself met Jim at the Cobo dog show and he was giving a mushing demonstration. We were just getting into sledding and had a very nice talk with him afterwards. Sorry to hear of his passing.

Jennifer and family, We were so sorry to hear about Jim. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. It was hard to retire a few years ago because the patients were like extended family. It felt like we had started a good book and didn't get to finish it. Know that we are thinking of you. Dr and Marlene Hanna
