I used to watch the Smurfs when I was a little boy.. In the 90's.. Remember I watched a VHS cassette of the Smurfs when it was a cartoon.. When I saw the first Smurf film, a blue memory struck.. Our beloved Papa and his many smurf-children, hehe..
May you rest peacefully and warm our blue hearts.. Whenever we look up at the blue skies, we see you. And all the love and joy you've given us.. We will NEVER EVER forget you..
Rest In Peace, Papa Smurf.. Smurfs will never ever be the same without you..
He was everyone's favorite Uncle.
When I saw your name and remembered the many laughs you brought to myself and many others. May the memories of your fine works be rich with God. Proverbs 22:1
I had the opportunity to drive Mr. Winters to the Skippers home during his visit for the USA show in 1986. It was one of the MOST memorable 30 minutes of my life! I laughed so hard I had to stop the little car! Thank you Mr. Winters...R.I.P.
From childhood to now older adult... the only person to make me laugh my whole life. Thanks Jonathan, you deserve heaven.
I have loved and admired Jonathan since 1952, when I was 8 years old. I watched and listened to him, and he helped to shape the way I look at and live in the world. He was truly one of the geniuses of show business, like Steve Allen, Stan Freberg, Dave Garroway, and Ernie Kovacs. But Jonathan will always be distinct and separate, and when they open the "time capsules" of the past, his humor will still be funny. What a guy; thanks so much for brightening my way!
He was one of my heroes. His greatest lesson was that if life is not going well, you can always become someone else for a little while, just by changing your voice.
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." -Psalm 116: 15.Genius, pure genius R.I.P.
Such a funny guy. May the Almighty God grant the family comfort during these difficult days. Romans 15:33
Jonathan Winters was a grand master of the art of comedy. He was all of the characters he ever created or portrayed, all in one lifetime. We are diminished.

Dear Lucinda and Jay, it's the Hollis family from Bermuda. We are so sorry to hear of the loss of your precious Dad. We lost our Dad, age 90, in his sleep, on April 12th, less than 24 hours after your Dad's passing. We found great comfort in that, imagining them sharing stories up in heaven. We so fondly remember those holidays, when we were young, with you and your Mom and Dad at Cambridge Beaches, boating, collecting clams, and hearing your Dad tell jokes and making us laugh! He and your Mom came to my opening show of Up With People in 1973!I could go on and on! Thanks for the memories!
You mage me forget my troubles even if it was just for 5 minutes, ten minutes or an hour. Thank you for the laughter.
Love you forever! Thank you for bringing joy! :)

When I was a teen,I tried to Imitate Mr Winters so much that my Dad had to tell me to "knock it off" at the dinner table. He was the greatest in his prime and will be sorely missed.Once I was at the Ventura,Ca. gun show(yes he was a firearms enthusiast) I had the opportunity to tell him how he impacted me.Im a big guy and when I walked up behind him and introduced myself he said in his instantanious way"I didn't know if I should shake your hand or get a Bat!" We talked,he was a great and good Man. God will enjoy.
Jay...sorry about the loss of your dad. I enjoyed stories you shared with me about him. Take care...Lupita

There is so much misery in this kooky world. You can't get enough laughter, it's the best therapy. Thank you Jonathan for the relief. Comedy, it's said is born of pain....your pain, if any, TURNED-TO-JOY -& relieved many CERTAINLY,turning-on SMILES,AND REAL LAUGHTER THRU YOUR VIEW OF THE HUMAN CONDITION!! It, like Red Skelton's, was DEVOID of BLUE MATERIAL....JUST REAL THOUGHT of LIFE- THAT NEEDED NO SHORTCUTS IN USING DIRT. If you sought refuge, may you have found it in its fullness; if pain, may you now be JUST AS RELIEVED AS A CREATOR CAN CURE ONE - one WHO CURED SO MANY MOMENTS FOR OTHERS WITH PURE JOY in COMEDY IN INTERPRETING LIFE. REST IN PEACE AND JOY. TO YOUR LOVED ONES, HAPPY MEMORIES AND WITH TIME, PEACE..we're all blessed in sharing his time here-thanks,Jonathan Ginn,Atlantic Hlds, N.J.

I am saddened by the death of Jonathan Winters and extend my condolences to his family and friends. I am especially grateful to him for bringing my father and I closer together than we might otherwise have been. When I was about 10 years old, my Dad purchased some Jonathan Winters albums, among the first he made in the early 60s. We would sit and listen to them over and over until we had the routines practically memorized. His comedy helped my Dad and I relate to one another. We never failed to go through his routines whenever we were together and they always made us laugh. My Dad is gone now, and now so is Mr. Winters. I will miss them terribly.

Dear Lucinda and Jay,
I am praying and asking God to comfort y'all during this time of grief. I LOVED your Dad's creativity, humor and wit and I am sitting back and remembering ALL the times he made me laugh. He was a GOD SEND to y'all and I HOPE y'all realize that. I know (because I lost my Mom and Dad) how sad this time in your life is, BUT, I am praying that y'all will be depending on God to get you through this season in your lives. I KNOW that your Dad was given a Special Blessing from God to be able to possess the talent that your Dad had. I feel that there are possibly millions of people that were sick in bed, in the hospital or simply confined to their recliner and your Dad lifted their spirits which caused them to be able to continue to enjoy life as they were BLESSED by his antics !!!! I will continue to pray for y'all, lifting y'all up to God for direction and understanding. "God BLESS You, And Yours" !!!! <
I was Jonathan's CPA for many years. Whenever he would call, he always started out in the voice of some character. I would play his straight man and we could carry on a great conversation that would eventually end up with the reason he call.
I'll miss you Jon.
Always classy and very funny. Thank you for your humor and keep on laughing in heaven. Rest in Peace.
HE Will Raise You Up On Eagle's Wings,
Bear You On The Breath Of Dawn,
Make You To Shine Like The Sun,
And Hold You In The Palm Of HIS Hand.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it's the memories of you that are the most precious.

Thanks for all the many laughs you provided. You will be missed by many. R.I.P., Mr. Winters. Denise Gitchell, Binghamton,N.Y.
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
Ruth Ann Mahaffey (author)

As we live in Austria part time just last week I was watching tv and saw the movie with the good actors from the old days, Spencer Tracy and Jonhathan and the rest of the group, it was not in English and my wife said you can't understand it, I told her it was a super mover with ever one running around looking for the money and the actors were good and there was no need to understand them speaking English, I could just look at them and tell what was going on. The actors in that Mad movie was super, they was not shooting up the town or killing ever one and no bad talk, that was the time of the good movies, not like all the crap today at the movies and on tv. Jonathan was a super man, when I was younger it was so much fun to see him on the tv shows, he could make ever one feel good. I hope you made it to Heaven and are meeting all your fellow actors and talking about the good old days. So God bless you Mr. Winters and your family. RIP
We will miss Jonathan Winters laughter he gave us for so many years. Prayers to his family.
My Prayers to the Family and Friends, he will be truly missed.

I watched you as a young boy and thought you were the funniest man alive. I'm now 62 and still think the same. You made millions laugh without ever using a bad word. Children and their parents could watch you together and laugh as a family. You were and are still the funniest man ever. Semper Fi and thank you Sir for your service. I'm sure you putting on a show now entertaining God and his Angels. Rest in peace Mr. Winters.
Rest in the arms of our Lord now Mr Winters. You were 1 heII of a great comic, my fondest tv memory is you portraying baby (man) Mearth on Mork and Mindy, you played that character sooo well as did with other comedic roles you did over the yrs. Sadly natural comedic talent is hard to find in this day and age. Comics think they have to be obscene, violent in order to be funny, thats why you, Lucy Ball, and NUMEROUS other comic greats have stood the test of time whereas they wont with just a couple of exceptions.
Jonathan, your voice and humor will be missed. While everyone in heaven is shedding tears of laughter, we on earth are shedding tears of sadness. Rest in peace. Condolences to Jonathan's children.
Thank you Mr. Winers, You were a wonderful role modle. In grade school, I tried my darndest to do your work in front of class. My favorite was the frog catching flies. We lost a treasure but what amazing memories. Deon

As a member of the class of 43 at Springfield High School, I am wondering if as I walked the corridors of shs, I might have passed Jonathan Winters. I became an Episcopal Priest in 1956 and learned that Mr. Winters was a lay reader in the Episcopal Church. I wrote him a letter thanking him for his service to the church. I recd a response from him. why i didn't frame it and hang it on my wall, I'll never know. I loved him in The Russians are Coming The Russians are coming and will probably get it out of the libr. and look at it in his memory. God bless him, I'll bet he's doing improv for st. Peter right now. Fr. Lew Towler, Ann Arbor, Mich.

I have never signed a guest book for a celebrity, but if Jonathan Winters is not deserving, the no one is. Like him I was pretty much an only child and entertained myself. Jonathan for me was the kind of person who just not made me laugh, he would have be rolling on the floor, unable to breath, peeing in my pants laughing. The people who made me laugh the most were Jonathan Winters, Peter Sellers and W.C Fields. Thanks for the great memories. Sitting here I began to go into many of his routines. Bless you Mr. Winters and your family.

As children we have imaginary friends who we talk to until one day we cross the rubicon and the innocence of our youth is replaced by a world who labels such activity as unacceptable. Jonathan taught us all that you never need cross that border and our friends are always there for us, imaginary or real. R.I.P. my mentor from one of your millions of real friends. J.W.
Jonathan's mother, Alice Bahman, was on my staff at Wize, Springfield, Ohio, so I saw him occasionally when he visited. So talented and very funny. He gave me a 5-min monograph of a New York cab driver while sitting in my office. Took me all day to stop laughing. Ernie Gudridge.
The term " One of a Kind" is often used........but in this case. More than deserved......Rest in peace my friend, and above all,,,,,,,,"Thank You for the laughter" ..

Winters was a generous soul and always put out the word to our Dominican seminary that we were welcome and gave the months his retreat was available for our use for no charge.I missed him on the talk shows. But his TV obituary had highlights that had me holding my stomach with laughter and I remember his spontaneous characters peppering his "Tonight" show interviews and Carson's adapting "AUnt Blabby" retorts with Ed McMahon! Right up there with the greatest generation of showbiz! God bless you, Jonathan.

Jonathan Winters never lost the precious gift we all have as children, imagination. He was as much a poet as a comedian as he painted detailed images of all the characters that he met through life, capturing their gestures, voice, and expressions but more than that- their humanity. His quicksilver mind and infectious grin will be so greatly missed.
OMG - Jonathon has joined Maud Frickert, Lamar Gene Gumbody, Willard Kretchlow, Maynard Suggins.....and all the other wonderful characters he created for us. His wacky wonderful humor will live on forever....he was one of a kind!!

Jonathan Winters did a weekly CBS primetime comedy show in 1967-68 that was pure gold. No one was ever funnier or half as original. He deserved a dozen Emmys for the work he did on that program alone. He was one of a kind. He had no successful imitators.

To the family of Jonathan Winters - my late husband passed away at the age of 54. He was a resident of Shanghai 1940-1058. When he came to New York, he quickly immersed himself with music, Jewish Coffee Cafes, and comedy. One of his most awesome times was sharing a drink with Johnny at La Fonda Del Sol in Manhattan. Mr. Winters was one of the few people he told his story to of living in Shanghai through the War and the Communists. Mr. Winters had the ability to turn sorrow into laughter. Robert never forgot his kindness. You will have wonderful memories all your life. Thank you.

I had the pleasure to meet Mr. Winters along with a close friend of mine on January 12th, 1996 at the Bay Cafe in Santa Barbara California. At the end of our conversation he left me with a card I carry today. It reads:
" To Marv, It's always a "few good men (USMC) and I was just a boy of 17! "
"My friends card read: "If they take our guns, can we keep our bazookas?"
With your passing we are all diminished. Thank you for all you did.

I hope that the cable networks will rerun his movies and TV shows so that the younger generations can come to know this truly great man.
It seems here lately that most every time we look up, another part of our childhood passes on. There's been so many in the last year or two. Just the other day Annette and now Jonathon Winters. Mr. Winters was good in anything he starred in, he was really one of a kind and even some times he had a hard time not laughing at himself. His humor was one of a kind that will never be matched by others.
May Mr. Jonathan Winters Rest In Peace
I enjoyed our friendship for 20 years, breakfasts, lunches and dinners at all your favorites haunts. I'm sure you are enjoying plenty of fried clams and the largest piece of chocolate cake known to mankind!

My heart sank when I saw the news that one of my favorite people in the world, Jonathan Winters has passed. A very funny man who was also a light for those of us who have battled depression. Condolences to family and friends of this wonderful man. Jonathan, you will live on on video and still entertain many with your wit! RIP Big Man! Keep them laughing where you are now.
To Mr. Winters' family: Jonathan was the ONLY genius in comedy that this world had. He had a myriad of IMITATORS, but none have/had his outstanding talents. No one has ever made so many millions of people really laugh out loud like he did. May you be surrounded by love & peace at this very sorrowful time. He will forever be remembered. An Admirer of this gentle man-JM, Austerlitz, NY
Gosh, he was funny. Really funny. He could transform himself from a pirate captain to football coach. His characterizations were so believable. He even impersonated General Swartzkoff. I can't think of anyone funnier than Jonathan Winters! I will miss his humor as I'm sure millions will. To his family, my sincerest sympathy. Thanks, Jonathan, for many years of creative comedy.
Thanks for making me laugh when during a time when I did not feel like it. You lifted me when I needed it most. Rest in Peace

You made me laugh as I am sure you will do in Heaven
His acts were exactly that (comedy) . He didn't have nasty, vulgar words to make his audiences laugh, he had a God given talent . Family type show to gather around. Gone..another classic!! Pat M. Va.
Thanks for the decades of laughter. You proved one can be funny without being vulgar. As you said in It's a Mad World...."don't call me baby!"
He made me laugh!
May the family find peace during this time of sorrow.
I'll not forget him putting on a viking helmet and said "talk about wisdom teeth." Rest well.

THE STRONGEST MAN..
(By Michael M. Kelly Sr.)
There never was a man so strong,
That the earth trembled as he walked about,
There never was a man so strong,
That the mountains shook when he would shout,
There never was a man so strong,
That the oceans would overflow if he wept,
But there was a man so strong,
That all that knew him will not forget.

Absolutely brilliant. Perhaps the funniest movie EVER was Jonathan Winters' garage scene in "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World". Nothing comes close! RIP big fella
Brilliant! Thank you for sharing your talent with the world. RIP
Do I go around signing celebrity guest books? No, only when it's the first non-cartoon character to ever make me laugh. Jonathan and John Ritter two of the funniest people ever, especially to a little 4 year old me back in 1980. Usually a new baby causes a show to jump the shark, not in Mork & Mindy's case.
One of the funniest movies 'The Russians are Coming' now one of my favorite. He will be remembered always. He is on his way to heaven where he belongs. Thank you for making us laugh. God Bless you! Mr. Winters.

You were one of the greatest...I simply loved you in "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" I laughed so hard when you were walking so slowly around the mountain wall and everyone was looking at you. Then when all were gathered together to decide "what to do" and "each man for himself" and you mentioned "claiming it on your taxes" I laughed so hard I cried in every scene that you were in. I loved you for many years on numerous T.V. shows, including the "Tonight Show" and also the voice in a Christmas Cartoon..You will be so missed. Now you are in Heaven with the Lord and all of His Angels and making everyone laugh...May God be with you. An ardent fan forever, Sandra Slater, Louisville Ky.

I don't know how to thank you for making me so breathless with laughter! You were such a comedic genius! It is true that you have to know tragedy to know comedy and that you did. I am sincerely hoping that the younger comedians look in the dictionary one day to research the definition of funny.
