I am deeply saddened by the loss of Secretary Hooks (as she will always be remembered in my heart). She was a great woman, a role model for others to follow, a Christian in everything she did, and a good friend. Even after my tenure with The Department of Labor ended, I had the opportunity to stop in and chat with her a few times, and I always received that smile that proved beyond doubt that God was in her heart. My condolences to the Hooks and Butler families, and the many friends whom she touched. May your memories help you through the days ahead, and may God Bless you and be your rock and anchor.

Keep her alive through your beautiful (future) wife, kids, and maybe grandkids, but you go on living. We love you and got your back brother! Steven and Tan

While I did not personally know Mary Hooks, I do recall reading about her accomplishments in the newspaper and today, I am sadden to find out that such a remarkable woman has departed us. While the pain is yet fresh, may God put a song in your heart, a smile on your lips and a peace that passeth all understanding for the blessing that Mary was in your life.
Mrs. Hooks was nothing short of stunning in every way. Her smile alone carried great impact.
Many years ago, I first met her when we served on the Board of Directors of Uplift Assistance. Even though our involvement was not far reaching or long lasting, when ever I saw her, she always greeted me by name. She was always supportive and encouraging of my efforts both civically and personally.
She remains a mentor, a roll model, and an inspiration to me. I can only hope to pass along to others the part of her that touched my life for ever….her giving spirit, dedication, and determination. She shall surely continue to watch over and motivate us all.
Dear Mr. Hooks and Family,
My prayers, love and sympathy to you during your bereavement. Be comforted in the fact that Mary was a true public servant and touched the lives of many. God bless you.

It is with many heartfelt thoughts we send our prayers to you as we too are deeply saddened by the swift departure of a true servant of God. Mary was led to become a member of our church while living in the Tallahasse area and she was a supportive member in every way...we were blessed to have her in fellowship for over two years. Her Godly spirit has touched our entire congregation. Mary was not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, she loved praising and giving God the Glory. She showed her love for God through her service to others in so many ways. We will miss her, but look forward to seeing her again in that great beyond. You were blessed to have her as your wife and mother, we were blessed to have her as our true "sister in Christ" and her memory will linger in our sanctuary. Please keep in touch. Much love, Many blessings and prayers.

Dear Mr. Hooks and Family,I was sadden greatly by the word that your love one had passed. Although I have known Mr. Hooks (Lee Allen)since high school(first as members of the band at Kennedy, then he as my teacher), I met Mary only once. She was very gracious in that meeting. She and Ms. Jordan where together at the Bill Clinton visit to WPB and I happened to be home at the time. She invited me to her home, but I was too busy to go. As a Lincolnite we all grieve whenever one of our own goes to glory. Mr. Hooks know that your wife is in a better place.

To the Hooks' Family,
May I express my deepest sympathy to you and yours during this time, and may God wrap his arms around all of you as they are certainly wrapped around Mary.
This lady had compassion and wisdom that was abundant and was willing to share it freely with others. Mary (Mrs. St. John as we affectionaltely called her) exuded poise and class like few others so gifted. She will always be a shero!
God Bless you.
You have our deepest sympathy. May God forever bless and keep you. We are all travelers passing this way preparing for our eternal home.

To the Family of Mary Hooks, we offer our deepest sympathy in the death of your beloved Mary. She and I worked together in the insurance business, and shared an office for a time. She will be greatly missed. She was a wonderful, caring person. May God comfort your hearts with the knowledge that Mary is in the place which Jesus prepared for her!

I want to express my deepest sympathy to the Hook's family during their time of travail and loss of their love one. I was a member of Ms. Hook's management team at the Department of Labor and sincerely appreciated her gentle and kind spirit. I especially remember how she challenged staff at the department to "think outside of the box" and be innovative in their approaches to quality management. I, like many others was saddened to hear of her passing. God bless you as you mourn this great loss.
With sympathy to her family. I appreciated her frienship. I am deeply sadden by the loss of a great friend who was always there for me.
MARY---- Gently graceful, yet elusively powerful. A lady admired and loved. She will be missed. Our prayers and thoughts are with you Brandon and Lee.

The Lord has called Mary home to rest. She has completed her work on this earth. She is HOME. She shall continue to live on in her family, friends and the work she did. "BLESSED"
Mary was such a special person, who served the great City of West Palm Beach and the state of Florida with such professionalism. When Mary left for our state capital, I knew she would serve with the same passion she did for West Palm Beach.
God Bless her family and friends

With sympathy to her family. I appreciate the vital role Mary Hooks played in the Digital Divide Council in Tallahassee. I am sadded by the loss of a great lady and good friend.
May God Bless the entire family. I only met her once but her warmth and kindness made me feel welcome as though I was a part of the family. I know, from all the wonderful, inspiring words that her cousin, Julia Perry, shared with me about her, that she was a woman of high standards, great values, and lots of compassion for her family and friends. Definately a woman to look up to.

Mr. Hooks, On behalf of my family, the Fergusons, we extend our heartfelt sympathy to you and your family. When I was a little girl Mrs. Hooks was one of the prettiest women I had ever seen. There was an air about her. When she walked into the room she kept my attention until the minute she walked out. It seemed as if everyone loved her and I was so proud that she knew who I was!She knew my name and my family. That meant so much to me, that someone like that knew me.Today, I realized that the real blessing was me knowing HER. She was truly a beautiful person and will be missed. I send my love, thoughts, and prayers to her family. God Bless
