As a boy I checked the sports section every day to compare Williams vs Musial. Were there two better hitters in the majors.
To the family of "Stan the Man". I grew up in the Boston area in the 60s where there was no National League baseball teams - the heavy hitters of the Red Sox (Ted Williams, Carl Yaztremski) and the dreaded NY Yankees (Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris) dominated baseball when and where we lived. In the summertime, our neighborhood kids would play 3-4 baseball games a day, every day. If you had a great day of hitting, you were referred to as "Stan The Man" - not Ted, Yaz, Roger or Mickey. Thank you so much for being an incredible human being and sportsman. Your legend will live way, way beyond your physical presence. Signed with admiration and respect.

Thanks for the wonderful memories, Mr. Musial. 6 is, and always has been my favorite number. I'm pushing 68 yo very hard. My eyes haven't been dry all day, reading about this wonderful man.
One of the thrills of my childhood was having Stan Musial sign my scorecard after a Cardinal game. Great man! Great loss. My prayers for, and sympathy to, his family.
I still have my mom's copy of Stan's autobiography signed by co-author Bob Broeg. As a native St. Louisan and a 4th generation Cardinals fan I also feel a great personal loss in Mr. Musial's passing. Requiescat in pace.
I have seen him play many of times at forbes field . He was a great player
A man's whose legacy goes beyond athleticism and sportsmanship, it leaves us a standard from which to aspire as human beings. Thank you Mr. Musial for teaching us that it is not what you do for a living, it is what you do with your life!!!
A man of integrity and class. I admired Mr Musial on and off the field. I also was fortunate enough to see him play. I am a lefty and heard about it a lot when I was a kid. I could usually stop the abuse by saying so is Stan the Man.
"The Man" will be missed.
