Tina Jo Hackbarth Obituary
For half her life, Tina Jo Hackbarth was affiliated with The Palm Beach Post. Beginning as an independent contractor delivering the newspaper in St. Lucie County, she spent the past nine years as a district manager in the home delivery department, working in Jupiter, Stuart and Port St. Lucie.
Ms. Hackbarth, 50, died Friday from complications during surgery at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville.
"She was always interested in promoting The Palm Beach Post," said her supervisor, Distribution Center Manager Mike Sturgeon. "She went out of her way to find stories."
A native of Westwood, N.J., Ms. Hackbarth lived in St. Lucie County for 25 years, moving from Colorado Springs, Colo. She was an avid collector of comic books and fairies. She enjoyed cooking and gardening in her spare time.
She is survived by two sons, Adam Hackbarth and Mark Austin, both of Fort Pierce; a brother, Rick Hackbarth of Fort Pierce; three sisters, Holly Plant of Oakland, N.J., Melissa Higman of West Creek, N.J., and Jane Hackbarth Cole of Wharton, N.J.; and her maternal grandmother, Libby Kennerly of Beach Haven, N.J.
A celebration of her life will take place in July.
"She'll be missed by everybody who worked with her," Sturgeon said.
