Lawrence Guyot was one of the best people I have met in my life. I worked in Attala County,Mississippi when he was the head of the MFDP. He was courageous and loving. He came to speak to local rallies in Kosciusko, risking his life for the cause of freedom and equality. We have all lost a wonderful person.

Having been one of 8 clergy who ha been arrested for demonstrating for voter registration in front of the jail. I was awaiting release on bail and he ,even in jail, was leading the chant for voter registration. I thank God for this leader general ofthe movement.

Dr. Guyot was truly one of a kind in a field of many leaders. When you ask him a question, get ready" because he was going to tell you the truth' good or bad"" no matter who you are. The Civil Rights movement was blessed to have him~! And we were blessed to have him~!! Sometime you don't know what you got"" until it's gone. Rest in peace, Dr. Guyot~!!!!
