Maurice and where the wild things are has changed me forever. Emotionally, mentally and physically. I couldn't have grown up without it. I owe you with everything that i am and who I am today for your work.

It had been my deepest wish to meet you, sir... As an artist, we find other artists who become like parents to us... We revisit their works daily, looking for teachings, guidance, inspiration... You were mine, Mr. Sendak. And though we've never even met, I feel like I've lost a father. Good night. Sleep tight. Thank you, and, I love you.

The heavens are alive with Mr. Sendak's boisterous spirit and creative energy while we here on earth are saddened by his leaving us.

I cried when I heard the news of Sendak's passing. I mourn as I write this. I will be forever indebted to him for his book, "In the Night Kitchen" because after reading it to my four-year-old son, he has expressed acceptance, even pride, of his male body which he did not, which he disliked, before. Truly, so grateful.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Sendak and telling him how reading Where the Wild Things Are as a child led to my love of reading.
As soon as I found out I was having a baby.. I went out and bought that book!
So sorry for your loss.
