I met him for 5 min at Airventure 2006 and he acted like he had known me for years. Me a nobody, he a legend, but it didn't matter. I walked away thinking what a nice man that guy is. I am sorry he's gone but he had a great life and was very well loved by many. I am happy for him.

Take comfort in the promise God gives us, that one day,
no resident will say "I am sick" but all can look forward
to the opportunity to live forever. (John 17:3)

Dear Audrey, Tom, Bonnie and Family,
My deepest sympathy in the passing of Paul.
I have such wonderful memories from working at EAA,and enjoyed my time with all of you while you were based in Franklin. I recently visited with Mary and we talked about working @ EAA and the great times we all shared.
May all the wonderful memories bring you peace, comfort and harmony. May God Bless you all.
Fondly,

Hearing the roar of jets soaring today near the EAA grounds it gave me goose bumps to think of the great loss our community has had with the passing of Paul and what he has done for the spirit of aviation and the State of Wisconsin since his arrival. Paul literally and figuratively took our eldest son under his wing for the past 3 decades sharing his enthusiasm for aviation and life. Wether it was teaching him how to build a wooden wing rib in the airplane factory to final conversation at AirVenture 13. Truly a man among men that never let his celebrity get in the way of his relationships and kind nature. When the sounds of AirVenture start out next summer there will be a huge loss on the grounds and in the hearts of many. Our condolences to the Poberezny and the EAA family. We have lost a true hero. May he rest in peace. The Tom Boyson family.

In 1952 my dad took me over to Franklin and (Carl)Schultz's 66 Service to see if I could get a job there. I remember the evenings when Paul and 5 or 6 other guys would sit around and discuss airplanes. A year or so later they would write the EAA by-laws in Carl's (EAA 2) kitchen. Bob Nolinski (EAA3) would would do the newsletter, and I would pick them up and deliver them to the post office. About that time I bought Audrey's 1941 Chevy coupe from Paul, and he recruited me into the 128th Fighter SQ Air National guard in 1953. Paul was a remarkable man and was fun to be around. He once invited me to take ride in a P-51 but the mission was scrubbed at the last minute. We'll miss you, Paul. Thanks for the memories and all you've done for aviation.
My condolences and gratitudes to Audrey, Tom and family.

I attended the Chapter Leader's Workshop in January 2009 and got an opportunity to go to Paul's "office" and see his memorabilia, and talk with him. He impressed me with his love of aviation and his obvious love of people. He even looke a little like my deceased father, who loved aviation as well, and reminded me of him.
He will always be an inspiration to me. Thanks Paul!

My husband and I were such fans of the Eagles Aerobatic Flight Team that Rick built an Eagles pedal plane for our Son. What an inspiration Mr. Poberezny was. Blessing to his family.
