I never met Col. Paul Tibbets in person, only in history books, and in newspaper and magazine articles. When he performed one of the most honorable and life saving acts that any man has ever done, I was almost 4 years old. My father spent the entire period of WWII in the South Pacific in the Navy. If an invasion had been launched in Japan, many men my age would have never seen their father again. Col. Tibbets is a member of the greatest generation that ever lived. I thank God daily for that generation and especially for Col. Tibbets and men like him. His devotion to duty, country, and ideals of the Godly American way of life that have been lived out over the life span of our country are the principle tools that God has used to perpetuate freedom in such a Godless world. May God continue to raise up heroes such as Col. Tibbets, Moses, Joshua, and the likes of them when war-mongering men rise to power such as Hirohito, Hitler, Mussolino, and their likes. From an old retired police officer, I can only say "Thank you for preserving our way of life." May God bless and comfort your family and friends in these days. Our Prayers are with you all.
In Christ, R. W. Brown
