Darryl Heppner Obituary

DARRYL C. HEPPNER Born on May 9, 1961, Darryl was a lifelong resident of the Corona area. The huge and overwhelmingly generous heart that God gave him was silenced on July 5, 2013. Darryl was hired as a Police Cadet by Corona Police Department in 1981 and promoted to the position of Animal Control Officer in 1983. After devoting over 30 years to the citizens and animals of Corona, Darryl retired from his position as Animal Control Manager in December 2012, but his care and concern for the Corona Animal Shelter and its staff members never ended. Darryl was the true definition of a friend to all of those who held that distinction. He was enormously generous with both his time and money and never expected, nor would he accept, anything in return. Darryl was preceded in death by his parents Nadine and Harold Heppner and is survived by his sister Diana Marie Christian of Chino and his sister and brother-in-law Brenda and Donn Jarrell of Long Beach. He also leaves behind friends, neighbors and countless honorary nieces and nephews who will miss him beyond words. A chapel service will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Thomas Miller Mortuary in Corona, CA Services are entrusted to

Not sure what to say?

Is seems like yesterday that I last saw and spoke to Darryl. He was a great guy and really cared for his friends and those he supervised at Animal Control. I first met Darryl in the early 1980s when he worked at Animal Control. Over the years are paths crossed many times. I had the honor to be Darryls supervisor when I was the Commander of Detectives which also oversaw Animal Control. I fondly remember Darryl stopping by my office weekly bringing us both a coke and discussing how the week went. He really cared for his mother and would take her to dinner at their favorite Mexican restaurant in Corona. That is also where I would see him and his mother. Although time will continue to go forward, I know Darryls friends will not forget him!

Truly taken back today reading that Darryl had passed. Had a wonderful opportunity in knowing him for many years. As many have you stated, a very giving and unselfish man. He would bring lunch to my friend and I while working just that is what he wanted to do...no matter how hard we would try to repay him, lol! God blessed us with him and now he will bless many more in heaven...hugs

I am a tax preparer and its not always easy remembering all of my clients but I can honestly say that Darryl stood out from the rest. I loved talking 'dog' with him. I knew he was a good person and fought the good fight. I appreciated that about him. God speed, Sir, something tells me you have a lot of friends waiting for you on the other side. You will be missed.

Darryl was a very kind genuine person who was very helpful and caring after my son was attacked in our city by a loose pit bull. He even called to check on him after his plastic surgery which he required after the bites to his face and followed up with a visit to our home. And when we would go in to pay our dogs license fees he always came out of his office to say hello to us if he saw us even after years had passed.I am very sorry for his families loss. God has received a true angel indeed.

Darryl,
We are all special in God's eyes, but you are special in so many others eyes. He gave you a big heart to do the special things needed for the animals and people alike.
Now it is your turn to be taken care of, and he will take care of you.
Let him show you the way.

Darryl was one of the most generous people I have ever known. Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to get to know him better -- my loss. He was intelligent, personable, and had many and diverse interests. He was an asset to his friends, his community, and the planet. He will be missed.
