"Uncle" Frank was my Godfather.
One of the things I remember was as a teenager, he helped me open my first checking account with Crocker National Bank and later, get a student credit card.
When I was a kid, I envied him as I believed he had a class III Pilots License and a private plane. Man, was that too cool or what?!
I remember when I was around 6 yrs old, my parents put me on a Western Airline turbo prop plane to see Frank and Barbara Gile up in the San Francisco Bay area. Their house had a dock next to the water and I thought this was living! I was in love!
The last time I saw Frank was at my father's funeral back in 2003. He came up to me to say some very kind words about my father and then suddenly broke down and cried, saying something to the affect about how close he was with my dad and how everybody is dying now and how he's all alone. I didn't know what to say. So I gave him a hug and said, "Frank, I know that might be true... but just think. When the time comes and it's your turn, there's going to be one hell of a reunion up in Heaven as they'll all be waiting for your arrival!" Boy, I'll never forget how he looked up to me smiled and laughed.
It's hard to believe how time doesn't discriminate and that we're losing this "Greatest Generation."
God Bless you Frank. And God Bless the Gile Family and their Friends.

It makes me smile remembering Frank's great smile and his wonderful laugh. Both he and Barbara were life long, dear friends to our parents Tom & Betty Lorbeer. Frank and my dad developed a special bond and an enduring respect and friendship over their many years together. I know Frank will be dearly missed by his family and to those who knew him. His life made a difference for many. I will be thinking of Barbara, Jeff, Dennis and his family in the celebration of Frank's life on Thursday.

Frank was one of my father's oldest and most steadfast friends. Both he and Barbara made a significant, positive influence, throughout my parent's lives. Their love & support was unfailing. My sincere sympathy to Barbara and family.

Frank was a wonderful and supportive father-in-law, who loved his family very much and we loved him. We will miss him terribly. Laurie Gile
