My father was Gerda's 1st cousin, but the family has not been in contact for many years. My condolences to her family and I would be pleased if they could contact me.
We, as women, owe her a great debt of gratitude. People of my generaton cannot appreciate how arcaic academia can be at ANY time in history. My best wishes and prayers to her family at this sad time. I can only hope to gain a minor fraction of the perseverence and "guts" she had. God bless her rest and the rest of those two ladies who helped encourage this great intellect.

An amazing woman who made broadly profound contributions in the advancement of women's rights. I first became familiar with her when she appeared as a guest speaker during my college years. I became a fan and followed her literary work since that time.

i never met her but shes right, i am the same way, cuz theres a way to be and a way not to be. and im always trying very diligently to not only be the way i know im supposed to be to others but i try to get others to be that way too. it might seem mean to not be like everyone else but GOD doesnt use a cookie cutter when He makes us!i lived thru jail fro a week to save someones job for him, in solitary , which was my hell, i want others to know that sometimes when you tell the truths no one wants to hear, you may have to pay that price as i did. but its all worth it in the end and i bet she knew it too.
She will live always through her books and works. Her book The Majority Finds Its Past changed my life! Blessings abound for Ms. Lerner.

I had the pleasure and honor of knowing Gerda personally. The last time we saw each other was at Sarah Lawrence College at the 25th Anniversary Reunion of The Women's History Institute for Leaders of National Women's Organizations
I have had her book about the Grimke Sisters of South Carolina on my shelves for years, and honor the historian who gave us so many outstanding works. Rest in peace, after a long life well lived.
Gerda's passing is humanity's loss. Truly a great woman who taught so many, including those she never met.

I offer my condolences. We all look forward to the day when there is no injustice. She was 92 years young, for God put time indefinite in our hearts.

What a delight to have a person like Gerda Lerner in your life. May family and friends take comfort in that God will soon end all types of injustices just as Mrs. Lerner advocated. Gerda Lerner died almost one year to the day when my mother Winifred Milius Lubell died. They were friends during the 1950s and I and their children later attended the same school in NYC. I recognise her legacy in the same way as I do my mothers, in that both were keenly interested in the history and role of women in society. Long may their spirit and memory be kept alive!
Gerda touched many women's lives. She will be remembered. God is near to those broken at heart. My sincerest condolences to Gerda's family and close friends.
