Nikiski resident Penelope A. "Penny" Alberty, 55, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012 at home with family by her side.
No services are planned at this time. She will be laid to rest in Heritage Memorial Park in Dewey, Ariz. at a later date.
Penny was born June 15, 1957 in Homestead, Fla. She grew up in California and graduated from high school. She lived on various Air Force bases from 1957-59 and in Norco, Calif. from 1959-1971. She then lived in Arizona until moving to Nikiski on July 1, 1999. She worked as a banker and bookkeeper.
Penny was a member of the Redoubt Homemakers Group and enjoyed crafts, sewing, gardening and fishing.
"Penny was full of ambition. She loved making things whether it was for herself or others. Family was the most important thing to her and she couldn't be more proud of her grandchildren." Her family wrote.
Penny was preceded in death by her brother, Peter Hodan.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Brian Alberty; son, Willie Alberty of Lincoln, Calif.; daughter, Kristi Ringler of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Malachi and Gabriel Albert of Lincoln, Calif. and Taryn Ringler of Tucson, Ariz.; her parents, John and Millie Hodan; sister, Pam Wagner and brother Pat Hodan, all of Dewey, Ariz.
Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
