Shirley (Jacobson) Bolling, 88, passed peacefully in her sleep due to age-related causes on September 27, 2017.
Shirley was born in Bellingham, Washington, to Lloyd Lehman and Stella (Spaulding) Lehman. As a toddler, Shirley and her family moved to Forks to live with family members during the Depression. Shirley graduated from Forks High School as a member of the class of 1947.
Shirley married James Jacobson on June 20, 1948. He passed in 1984. He was the love of her life. She saw him on the school bus at 10 and said she loved him.
She married Dave Bolling in 1990, and the marriage ended in 2003.
Shirley worked as a waitress, hostess and business owner. She worked for Sam Hoguewood for many years, then worked for his sons, David and Jim.
She owned and operated C Street Grill and Ten Pin Grill for several years. She loved work with the public and especially enjoyed her regular customers. Her burgers and fries were the best in town.
Shirley moved to Chimacum in 2003 to be with her sister. She traveled to Hawaii, attended bowling tournaments up and down the West Coast, loved casinos and traveled to Elko, Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada, often. She and her sister, Peggy Wilson, had many adventures together as they visited every casino in the area.
Shirley leaves behind her daughters, Terry Lynn (Ron) Stoddard of Port Angeles and Melva (Greg) Bennett of Houston, Texas; her sons, Gregg (Debb) Jacobson of Carlsborg and Douglas (Pamela) Jacobson of Spokane, Washington; her special uncle, Gene Spaulding of Forks and Sequim; her beloved sister, Peggy Wilson of Chimacum; her brother, Lloyd (Teresa) Lehman of Port Angeles; 11 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. One great-great-grandson due in 2017 she was so looking forward to meeting.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Stella Lehman; her loving husband, James Jacobson; her great-granddaughter Ashlea Alizabeth Erwick; and many uncles, aunts and cousins, too many to count but all missed very much.
A private burial will be held, but at her request, there will be no formal services.
A celebration of life and potluck luncheon was held Saturday, November 11, at the Chimacum Grange.
