Alex & Casey were friends since middle school, going to HS hockey & basketball games together. He tried many times to date her but it wasn't until senior year, after numerous talks about their classmate Eric Pitman's tragedy, Alex revealed his sensitive side that was usually hidden & she said yes to him. He'd chosen “their” song as “Nothin on You” by Bruno Mars & lyrics from a song “better when we're together” as they'd lay on the grass in the park behind our house often looking up at the stars. I'll never forget how he'd walk into our house & call me “mom”…even in texts to me he'd refer to me as “mom”; and the time she lost a football bet to him & she had to wear his Michigan shirt, boxers & cap (not easy being a PSU fan!) Alex was so funny, intelligent & always so polite.

We watched as they struggled with their college choices & career paths to their desired year round warmer climate areas 3000 miles apart realizing the future for them was dim. We had all hoped he would find what he was looking for in San Diego, because he really hated the cold & snow shoveling in PA.

Unfortunately it must not have been enough for him to fulfill his “dreams”. But trying is just as important. The inner struggles that led Alex to finish his path in life instead of fighting for his will for a future is truly an incredible sadness for all of those who cared about him. He had so much potential and we wish he could've seen that possibility. Alex is now at peace. Our sympathy goes to his family and friends.

I'm writing on behalf of Chris, me and our little babies. Chris adored Alex...he babysat him when he was little and loves his little cousin dearly. We are so sad to lose him; I know Chris cherishes the time he did spend with him. We will miss you Alex. Love the Crafts

Although we didn't have the chance to get to know Alex more closely, during the times that we did visit, he left us all feeling like we just had a lighter, brighter, and happier day. We were impressed with his great wit and obvious intellect.I remember during one visit to Pa.,when my daughters and all of us went out to eat. Alex and Lauren had us in stitches. They were like a well practiced comedy team, throwing one-liners and zingers back and forth with perfect timing and effect. We are still in shock, and saddened with his loss. Jan, our love and prayers are with you and all your family.
