Hi Joyce,
you don't really know me but my dorm room at IUP in 1969 was directly across the hall from Chuck's room. Looking back, it's hard to believe that after nearly 50 years, I still cared deeply about a guy that I knew for less than 9 months. But that's the kind of guy your husband was. Hell-Raiser will always be fondly remembered, and his name will continue to be brought to life when his old college room-mates gather to reminisce about the good old days, as well as our more recent get-togethers with him in Altoona. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Chuck & I were roommates during our freshman year at IUP. More recently, we had become re-acquainted during a visit to IUP in 2014 (a sort of reunion tour & again this past summer with friends at an Altoona Curve game). I treasure my memories of Chuck (or as we nicknamed him "hellraiser") & looked forward to seeing him more over the years (& at this years IUP friends reunion). That event will be less fun without his sterling & humorous presence.
God bless you, hellrazoo, you will be sorely missed - the world is worse off when someone of your quality passes. I will miss you.
To his family my sympathy; you had the best of his love.

Joyce:

As you well know, the news did not travel fast as far as his buddies at IUP are concerned. We're properly devastated by the news of a friend was was warm-hearted, good-natured (he had to be to put up with our shenanigans) and about as down-to-earth as any human being could be.

He'll be sorely missed and I promise a toast in his memory during our IUP get-together this summer.

God Bless.

Joyce, Jeremy, Matthew and Courtney and family - My heart is broken for you at this time. My memory of Chuck is that his smile was always present and he put up with our crazy job and staff Christmas parties at your house. A "stand up" man who left behind a strong family that will continue life wrapped in the arms of their faith, family and friends. Heaven's needs are stronger than ours. Keeping you in my heart and prayers. With love, Lee
