David Ogurkis Obituary


David V. Ogurkis, 77, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on July 3, 2018 in his home. He was born March 19, 1941 in Brackenridge, PA, son of the late Stanley and Anne (Vokish) Ogurkis.
David retired as financial director from the PA Board of Probation and Parole and was a former budget analyst at the PA Governor's Office. David received his undergraduate in Psycology and Philosophy from St. Mary's Seminary & University and his Masters Degree from Coppin State in Baltimore,MD. David was a U.S. Navy Corpsman having served during the Cuban Blockade. He enjoyed reading, gardening, Pittsburgh sports, travel and trips to the family cabin at Laurel Lake.
Surviving is his wife, Sandra M. (Downs) Ogurkis of Mechanicsburg; two children, Justin Ogurkis of Naples, FL, and Shannon Frey and partner, Chris Cohen of Salisbury, MD; stepchildren, Bradley Shriver of Jacksonville, FL and Lauren Woods and husband, Eric of Harrisburg, five grandchildren, Bailey and Cameron Frey, Justin Ogurkis, Christopher Cohen and Kaley Shriver. Also surviving are his sisters, Serena Bulik and husband, Vincent of Carlisle and Celestine Ferney and husband, Frank of California, MD.
Services will be private. If desired, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 897, Hershey PA 17033.
