I became a neighbor to Dorothy when I moved to Messiah Village in 2013. Prior to that, while I was a missionary, she provided a garage for to store my car for 6 years without accepting any remuneration. I would bring her something from Zambia or Zimbabwe when I would come back for a short time. She made it clear to me that she didn't want me to give her anything demonstrating her selfless nature. After I came back here to live I often visited her in her cottage and she was always very appreciative of our visits together. May God bless her memory and give comfort to Lisa and her family.

Dorothy was special to Ron and me during our time at the Grantham Church. We had a musical connection and a friendship connection. She was a happy follower of Christ and freely showed it! Another connection that I had with Dorothy was that in her early adult years she ministered with my grandfather Landis in the BIC mission in Des Moines, IA. She told me many interesting family stories. In the fall of 2016, thankfully I had the opportunity to visit with her.
Blessings and comfort to her family.

Over the years that I knew Dorothy I was touched by the compassion and faithful care she gave to her sister in her last days; her vivid memories of many summers spent in Switzerland, her second home; and her sharp mind always wanting to have a book to read or something to challenge her thinking. She was a great conversationalist and we enjoyed talks about the Lord. I will miss this great woman.
