So sorry to hear of Gene's passing. I was part of a team that taught at the Hamilton Sunflower Garden one summer in the 70s in Harrisburg. Gene's humor was a wonderful asset to the project. He made a stencil for the project that we put on shirts and I wore mine for many years with great memories of the team work that summer. I hadn't seen him for years after moving to the West Coast but am so thankful that we had dinner in Harrisburg, I think about five years ago. My sincere sympathy and prayers go out to his family and close friends for this loss.

Gene and I were in the same row (alphabetical) in homerooms 1-H and 2-H at St. Ignatius. He was doing cartoons then. He and I and a couple guys made a list of all the TV shows we could remember. Gene was in charge of the list. It was amazing that we had such a long list in 1961, when TV hadn't been around very long. We got our first TV about 1954. Gene was a great kid and fund to be around. Just a couple days ago I found an old "The Eye," the school paper. It was the issue that announced "27 Are Semi-Finalists" in the National Merit program. I saw Gene's name and picture and I wondered how he was doing.
I know you miss him more than I can imagine. I haven't seen him since 1965, but I remember him well

Gene provided editorial cartoons for a monthly publication by PA Farm Bureau for a number of years. We would give him bare bones ideas and he would always come up with a great illustration for us. He was a talented man with a great sense of humor. I'm truly sorry to learn of his passing.

I am so sorry for your loss....and can't believe that Gene is gone. We were friends, colleagues and cofounders of the Harrisburg Independent Press in 1971--He was our wonderful cartoonist. I have scanned quite a few of his cartoons from the paper--they are thoughtful and hilarious...brilliant, actually. I see that there will be a service in December...I can easily email the scanned cartoons if you'lll tell me where to send them. Much love to Gene's family, Anita Harris, Cambridge, MA.
