One thing I've always appreciated is that while growing up, Mom (and Dad) always pushed us to make the most of our blessings. We were all encouraged to try out for a variety of sports. If one didn't work out, then we were picked up, dusted off and moved onto the next. I remember a short stint as a football center...I think I lasted two games of getting knocked on my butt after the snap, until we decided it was time to give soccer a try, which worked out a little better. We were encouraged to sign up for a full and challenging course load in school. Learning one or more musical instruments was a given. On the weekly ride home from church, a discussion of the lesson immediately cleared up any questions and provided additional motivation. One of these that always stuck with me, involved the parable of the Talents from the book of Matthew.
Mom, thanks for helping me find my Talents and make the most of them.
Grateful for mom's leadership in teaching us to be our best and to work out our own salvation by setting tough goals and finishing them because God does not give us anything more than what we can handle! To leave a place better than we found it and to support our families, communities and the world in making it a better place.
Her affirmation in supporting my track meets after my healing of a club foot at birth and taking up running herself and daily exercise as part of her discipline in taking care of mind and body.
We were so thrilled to have the opportunity to travel together and have her as my Matron of Honor in Frankfurt, Germany; her support in the delivery of her grandchildren; and taking her class instruction.
Endeavor to live up to be the same superb example of a wife, mother, teacher and friend! With love and gratitude, Sue
My Grandmother was a caring person and never hesitated to help others. Naturally, this care extended to her grandchildren, and she was always an inspiration to me especially. Never one to shy away from her chosen duty, whether it was helping and teaching spiritually, raising six children, or spoiling her grandchildren, she always gave her best. I never knew her to show fear or hesitate in the face of seemingly impossible odds or overwhelming opposition. Some may have seen this as being too stubborn, but I think it was more that she loved on a higher level than many understood. She was the best grandmother one could hope for and will continue to be an inspiration and a spiritual beacon for us all.
My mom was a strong and caring person. She helped so many people, truly embraced the idea we are all brothers and sisters in this world. She and dad nurtured and supported with tender love and care. I know, as life is eternal, all will continue to feel that love and support. Her service was a wonderful testament to her life. All her children and grandchildren were present. I wanted to post a poem, but no copywrighted works...one of her favorites is "A road less traveled" by Robert Frost. And of course hymns by Mary Baker Eddy, from the Christian Science hymnal.
Dear Mom, we filled two pews at church today and honored you by being a family praying together. Enjoying our memories and love for one another by gathering together in the home you and dad shared for so many years. We are so grateful for how you guided us and lead by example and working on living up to your legacy. You touched so many and so very proud you are our mother. Miss you but know you live in all of our hearts. Looking forward to celebrating your life with family, friends and community to night. Love you mom, Connie Myers
What a wonderful expression of clarity, compassion, and maternal love that you express. I am so greatful for your deep understanding of God's infinite presence and grace in our lives and how you shared that with me and will continue to do so. So glad, Marge, that our paths have crossed and that I have interacted with a child of God.
Vaya con Dios.
Oh, Marge, The clearest expression of Christly love I have ever known. Your "clear sense and calm trust" reached my unsure thought every time I needed it. Our family is better off today because of you. Comfort and healing has been experienced from family illness to marital issues. Never judgmental or critical, but always present for all of us, you are the most caring, practical and comforting of Christian Science practitioners and a clear example of the mothering of Divine Love. I am so grateful to know you and feel impelled to raise my own daily life experience to new heights. The best example for me of, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men unto me." Your understanding is lifting me. Thank you!
Your love for Christian Science and your family are what I carry with me whenever I think of you. Thank-you for your dedication to all your students including me and for your living of the Truth.
You Have Been And Always Will Be Loved. Thank You For The Many Years Of Christian Science Support For Our Family. We Love You!
Marge...Your spiritual "knowing" was so strong and powerful. Your spiritual love was such a support. Your spiritual giving was so generous. My family and I thank you. May your family feel God's perfect Love and comfort.
Dearest Marge, you were not only my beloved teacher and spiritual guide, you were a trusted and faithful friend. I shared my inner thoughts and concerns, plus your prayers saved my life on two occasions. We also laughed together; your common sense was so valuable and helpful. Words are inadequate to express my thoughts right now, but I will use what you taught me to move on and pray that we, your students, will take up your mantle as Elisha did to further God's work for his children.
Marge, you meant more to me than you ever knew. At our last meeting, you complemented me for having taught you, but what you taught me cannot be measured. Your support during my own personal struggles helped me endure and you'll never know how much I counted on you. I still laugh at our disagreements, experiences and life lessons we shared. Your wisdom will always be remembered and I will continue to always quote you when times are tough. Thank you Marge for giving me so much.
Thank you Marge for your peaceful words and thoughts. Your friendship has been so valuable Love to your family
