Deepest condolences to the Trautman family. As an elementary student in Steelton during his time as a POW, we children kept him in our hearts and prayers, wore his POW bracelets and have remembered him throughout our lives. Peace to you as we remember him again.

My father and Col Trautman were friends from the 1940's while both served with the 148th in Reading. I had the honor of meeting him when I was 15. An incredible man. For those of us who still serve and fly, he is an inspiration. God speed sir.

On 25 November 1973 I received a letter from your dad, thanking me for wearing his name on a POW/MIA bracelet during the Vietnam War. Today I was doing some housecleaning and found the letter and two pictures that were enclosed. I've had it all this time and it made me want to see if I could find out how he was doing. I was saddened to hear you lost him last December. I am happy to know, though, that you had so many more years to spend with him, upon his release from captivity. I would like to turn the letter over to a foundation or somewhere to preserve it in his memory. I will see what I can find on that. Again, I'm sorry for your loss. I'm thankful he enjoyed a long and fruitful life. Joan Johnson

Dear Trautman family, I'm so sorry for your loss but I'm happy that Konrad and his love, Angela are together again. He was "my soldier". I wore his bracelet in the 70's and watched him come home
