Mary Jo Ann Coyne, age 82, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at West Shore Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born October 29, 1934 in Pittston, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Barrett) Madden.
Mary Jo graduated from Marywood University and attended Penn State University before moving to Manhattan where she worked in the banking industry. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed volunteering her time with the American Heart Association. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, swimming in her backyard pool, loved "all things Irish," especially Notre Dame football, and cherished the time she spent with her family and her pets.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Francis Coyne, Sr. Surviving are her daughters, Ann R. (Coyne) Devlin and husband Stephen of Lewisberry, Kathy M. (Coyne) Fojutowski-Diltz and husband Kenneth of Mechanicsburg, and Margy M. (Coyne) Dunay and husband Alan of Middletown; her son, Joseph F. Coyne, Jr.; as well as her grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Fojutowski, Kenneth Neil Diltz, Jr., and Jillian Francis Coyne.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 29 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 400 E. Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg. Burial will take place privately in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery in Pittston. There will be a viewing from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 28 at Malpezzi Funeral Home, 8 Market Plaza Way, Mechanicsburg.
Mary Jo's children wish to extend a special word of thanks to the physicians and nurses of the West Shore Hospital 3rd floor as well as the caregivers from HomeInstead for the warm and diligent care they gave to their mom during the past few weeks.
