I am very sad right now. Just learned of Wayne's passing. I am thinking of you all with fond memories of my years at Pealer's, the wonderful "family" of employees, and how nicely we were all treated by the Pealer family. Also remembering the picnics at the lake-they were lots if fun! Caring thoughts to you all. Cherish your memories. as I will. Fondly, Kathy Hooper

Dear Katy and Family, So sorry to hear about Wayne. As everyone has mentioned, working for the Pealers will always bring back many wonderful memories. One fond memory is working in the Wreath Room during holidays, and there was always lots of bantering back and forth when Wayne would pop his head in to see our progress. We will all miss Wayne very much, and I will miss seeing him driving around Dillsburg in his gray El Camino! He was a "pip", one of a kind. My prayers are with you. Donna (Davis) Carlson

Dear Brad, Catie and lucy, The world is less bright without Wayne in it. He was one of a kind and one of the best! As everyone on here has said, working for "The Pealer's" has ruined all future jobs forever. No other employers ever treated me with the respect and loyalty as Wayne and his brothers had.I had many conversations with Wayne while making those lovely cemetery cans up in station#1. It was while working away one summer afternoon when I confessed to him, that I knew Brad and about a dozen of us used to sneak into the lake and have parties. I also confessed that one time I took a can of tuna fish to eat. Years later I returned that can (with interest)at his 75th birthday party. (I gave back 4 cans) I remember calling him about giving him those swans and he and Brad showing up to catch them. Wayne stayed 10 minutes and Brad, Brian and I spent most of the day catching thost two swans for Wayne.(remember Brad?)that is still one of my Best days! A couple of years later when Laurie and I stopped by to visit-they were still there! I have so many great memories of those lovely men, too many to mention here... I will always cherish my years working for Pealers and will always remember "Our Waynie" He is gone but never will be forgotten. I will never get to squeeze his elbows again. (it was our thing, and he hated it) May your fond memories of him comfort you during this time of loss. Love, Chris and Brian Reed

As a 16 year old kid, looking for a
part-time job, I remember sitting across from Wayne for my interview. Never did I think at that time that
the flower business would become my
career. At Pealer's I had the best of times and made the best of friends.
It truly was a wonderful place to work.
To me it's an end of an era. Wayne will be deeply missed. With my deepest sympathy to Katie and family.

I was so sorry to hear this news! My time working at the flower shop was some of the best times of my life. So glad I got to know the whole Pealer Family, and especially Wayne! I remember when he interviewed me for the job, he almost didn't hire me because he thought I was just a 19 yr old kid looking for summer work till I told him I was married with a 4 yr old son, so no, I was not going back to school in the fall. Hired!
He will be missed! My thoughts are with you at this sad time.

I am sorry to hear that (uncle) Wayne passed away, and I hope that there is peace.
In hearing of his passing, so many memories came flooding back to me.
For instance, I have many memories of coming into the flower shop, and the first person to greet me would be Uncle Wayne.
There he was at his spot, with piles of cuttings all around. The ashtray would be full of course, with at least one or two cigarettes going.
He seemed to almost always have something fun to say, and was perfectly aware of all the interesting interactions that would take place throughout the day.
He was a people person in the truest sense, involved with multiple conversation at the same time, from his position at the crossroads of the room. He was integral to the fun times there.
He was a good guy, old school in a way that you can't reproduce anymore, and that last of his siblings.
His funny mannerisms and personality was extraordinarily unique. I will miss him.
