Tribute to Jim Hussong
January 1, 2013
My first year as a member of the PMTA, Jim Hussong probably wished that I would lose his phone number. He answered countless questions for me regarding all the different requirements for varying music organizations and student events.
He did pay me back though. He asked me to come help cut out all the numbers for the Sonata Contest in 1993. Back then, each division met in a room and drew numbers for playing order on the day of the event. So I cut up lots of little numbers and placed them in envelopes.
Two years later I chaired the event and remained in that position for ten years. Yes, Jim definitely has one up on me!
Jim, if you have internet in Heaven, I want you to know that I can't wait to play a duet with you. Surely, we won't make any mistakes there! In the meantime, we will try hard to carry on the legacy of music education, ministering, and caring for others that you so ably exhibited before us for so many years. And Jim, we miss you.
See you in God's timing,
