Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.

I remember numerous times spent with Uncle Karl. Even before he and Lois moved to Rockdale we hunted and fished together at the gravel quarry near their house and I got to accompany him to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on my first deer hunting trip while I was still in high school. Many things changed for Karl and Lois from those early years, but what always stayed the same was Karl's work ethic and his ability to call a spade a spade. From his stories of panhandlers in California to dealing with unruly employees, Karl had the ability to see the real issues behind the apparent ones and hold people accountable for their actions. In those times he was tough, but it is his inner compassion and tenderness I will remember most. Always willing to help, generous to those who deserved help, and his incredible devotion to Lois and family (especially his grandchildren) was a study in genuine love and caring. Those are traits he passed on to his sons and are a legacy his grandchildren will draw on for years to come. He will be missed greatly but will be remembered for what he taught many of us about living. And he and Lois were the only ones who still call me Danny.
