Janet Fagan Obituary

JANET ALEXENA (ENA) LUNDY REID FAGAN

1922 - 2014

Janet Alexena (Ena) Lundy Reid Fagan, 91 years old, passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her loving family and husband of 70 years. She is with Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

Ena was born October 1st, 1922 in Sooke, BC, Canada to Alexander Reid and Agnes McCracken. Growing up in Seattle,WA, Ena graduated from Franklin High School along with her future husband, Bill Fagan, and attended Seattle Pacific University. On September 9, 1943, Ena married her Billy, the love of her life, in San Antonio, Texas while he attended flight school. Throughout her life, Ena and Bill returned with their children to their roots in the Pacific Northwest. Because of these annual visits, Seattle and Sooke are like second homes to her children.

As an Air Force officer's wife, Ena raised her 5 children during 3 wars and multiple stations throughout the United States. Ena's was a professional multi media artist, a career that spanned 40 years. She was also an accomplished baker, costume designer, and family event coordinator extraordinaire. Ena's many artistic awards and accomplishments include the honor of being a signature member of the Southeast Watercolor Society, Florida Watercolor Society, a founding member of an organization that has become the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walto County. Former Director of the Arts and Design Society of Fort Walton Beach, President of the Officers Wives Club from1962---65, Art Educator and hard---working Honor Guard Wench with Billy Bowlegs in 1985. Ena continued her education throughout her life studying under renowned artists such as,

Judy Betts, Edgar Whitney, Paul Sample, and Wilfred Bowen.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Ena was passionate about helping others. She would often reach out to those who needed a little extra care and anonymously deliver handmade and beautifully decorated cookies to their door. She made friends wherever she went and was a beacon of energy, light and optimism for those who knew her. Ena modeled artistic celebration, compassion and creativity for her children. Her legacy will forever live on through their independent creative endeavors, which she nurtured. Ena celebrated all that life offered and created traditions and positive memories for her family, too numerous to list.

Ena is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Col. William M. Fagan USAF(Ret), her children and their respective spouses, Michael (Julie), Ronald, David(Kristie), Paul (MaryJean) and Janet Fagan, her grandchildren Sean, Ian, Kristopher, Mary (Joe), Matthew (Laura), William, and Joshua, and her great grandchild, Reid.

Services honoring and celebrating Ena's life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Pensacola, Wednesday April 29th at 10AM,followed by a graveside ceremony at Barrancas National Cemetery. A wake will follow Wednesday evening at Azaela Trace in Pensacola from 5 - 7PM.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Arts and Design Society or PAWS, both in Fort Walton Beach, or the Salvation Army.
