Jerome Schwartz Obituary

Jerome Schwartz

Jerome "Jerry" Leo Schwartz, 71, of Pace, FL passed away Saturday.

He was born to the late Leo and Francis Schwartz March 28, 1942 in Petersburg, VA. Jerry graduated from Pensacola High school in 1960. He served his country in the U.S. Army and in 1969 started his own business Aqua Pool and Patio. He worked there until 2006 selling the business to retire.

Those who knew Jerry appreciated his larger than life personality with a contagious zest for life. He never met a stranger- so eager to help others and did it with a kind heart. He was a giving person, but never wanted to be on the receiving end. Jerry was a prankster who loved to make people laugh.

Jerry in his 40's started cycling and rode across the country. He was an avid fisherman and Harley enthusiast. He was the Road Captain of the Pensacola H.O.G Chapter, an active rider with The (NW Florida) Patriot Guard, and founding member of (NW Florida) The Weasels. He was an escort to WWII veterans on honor flights. His caring character led him to volunteer with Covenant Hospice serving on the Board of Directors.

Survived by his wife June Schwartz and their daughter Karen Schwartz McClure; sons Michael and Christopher Schwartz and their mother Margaret H. Schwartz; step son Billy Rahaim; step daughter Becky Slay; brother David Schwartz; 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and six nieces and nephews.

In Lieu of flowers please send donations to your favorite charity.

Casual attire services will be held Friday July 12th at 1pm at Emerald Coast Funeral Home. Pastor Don Huntsman presiding.

I knew Jerry in his cycling days, and when he cycled across country then came back to work as a bicycle mechanic for tour. He was funny, very hard working and just a great person to be around. He will be greatly missed.

To all the Schwartz family...my thoughts and prayers for the loss of Jerry. I know Mom and Dad loved having Leo, Frances, Jerry and David as neighbors, and I have fond memories as a youngster of playing with Mike and Chris when they came over to their grandparents for visits.

I will always remember Jerry for making me laugh with his pranks and antics....and that he took me along on his dates with my sister Margaret when they would go to eat crabs in Maryland way back when. I pray that Jerry is at peace.
